Maintenance

The SafeTag Volt 4G GPS Tracker is designed for minimal maintenance. As it is hardwired to your vehicle's battery, it draws power directly from the vehicle. It also features a built-in 150 Milliamp-hour backup battery to ensure continuous tracking even if the main power supply is interrupted. A voltage limiter is integrated to prevent excessive drain on your vehicle's battery during long periods of inactivity.

Regularly check the physical connections to the battery terminals to ensure they remain secure and free from corrosion. Keep the tracker unit clean and free from debris.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SafeTag Volt 4G GPS Tracker, consider the following:

  • No Signal/Location Updates:
    • Ensure the tracker is correctly connected to the vehicle battery and receiving power.
    • Check for any loose connections at the battery terminals.
    • Verify that your subscription is active.
    • Ensure the vehicle is in an area with adequate cellular network coverage.
  • App/Web Platform Issues:
    • Confirm your internet connection is stable.
    • Log out and log back into the SafeTag app or web platform.
    • Update the app to the latest version.
  • Battery Drain:
    • While the tracker has a voltage limiter, prolonged vehicle inactivity (several weeks or months) can still affect battery charge. Consider using a trickle charger for very long storage periods.
