4. Installation and Setup
Installation of the Leviton LP622-BPD Load Center should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Follow these general steps:
- Mounting the Enclosure: Securely mount the load center enclosure to a suitable surface, ensuring it is level and plumb.
- Rough-in Wiring: Route all incoming and outgoing electrical wires into the load center. The design allows for wiring without breakers installed, simplifying the process.
- Connecting Main Power: Connect the main service entrance conductors to the factory-installed 225 Amp main circuit breaker.
- Connecting Branch Circuits: Connect the individual branch circuit wires to the appropriate terminals within the load center. Utilize the cable tie notches for organized wiring.
- Installing Circuit Breakers: Once wiring is complete, snap the individual circuit breakers into their designated spaces. The plug-on design ensures easy and secure installation.

5. Operation
Operating the Leviton Load Center primarily involves managing the circuit breakers. Each circuit breaker controls a specific electrical circuit in your property.
- Turning a Circuit ON/OFF: To turn a circuit on, push the breaker handle firmly to the 'ON' position. To turn it off, push the handle to the 'OFF' position.
- Resetting a Tripped Breaker: If a circuit breaker trips (moves to a middle or 'OFF' position), it indicates an overload or fault. First, identify and resolve the cause of the trip. Then, push the breaker handle firmly to the 'OFF' position, and then back to the 'ON' position to reset it.
- Observation Window: If an optional window door is installed, an observation window allows for at-a-glance operating status of all circuit breakers.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and safe operation of your Leviton Load Center. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
- Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the load center for any signs of damage, loose connections, or corrosion.
- Cleaning: Keep the load center interior and exterior clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, non-abrasive cloth.
- Tighten Connections: Over time, electrical connections can loosen. Have a qualified electrician periodically check and tighten all terminal screws.
- Breaker Testing: If your load center includes GFCI or AFCI breakers, test them monthly according to their individual instructions.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your load center.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit breaker trips frequently | Overloaded circuit, short circuit, or ground fault. | Reduce load on the circuit. Inspect wiring and appliances for faults. If problem persists, consult an electrician. |
| No power to a specific circuit | Tripped breaker, loose connection, or faulty breaker. | Check and reset the breaker. Inspect connections (with power off). If necessary, replace the breaker. |
| Main breaker trips | System-wide overload or major fault. | Turn off all branch circuit breakers, then reset the main breaker. Turn on branch breakers one by one to identify the faulty circuit. If problem persists, contact a qualified electrician immediately. |
For issues not covered here, or if you are unsure about any troubleshooting step, contact a qualified electrician or Leviton customer support.
