2. Product Overview

The HARDELL kit includes two primary components: 90-degree positioning squares for woodworking and an LF01 digital caliper for precise measurements.

2.1. 90 Degree Positioning Squares

These squares are designed to assist in maintaining precise 90-degree angles during woodworking assembly. They are constructed from high-quality aluminum alloy with an anodized red surface for durability and corrosion resistance. The kit includes stainless steel clamps for securing the squares.

2.2. LF01 Digital Caliper

The LF01 digital caliper provides accurate dimensional measurements. It features an LCD display for clear readings and a thumb roller for smooth operation. It supports both metric and imperial units and can perform four types of measurements.

3. Setup

3.1. 90 Degree Positioning Squares Setup

  1. Identify the two 90-degree positioning squares and the four adjustable clamps.
  2. For assembly, position the square against the corner of the workpiece to be joined, ensuring the edges align precisely.
  3. Insert the right-angle screws of the clamps through the designated holes on the square and secure them with the M8 plastic nuts. Adjust the fixed block to firmly hold the workpiece.

3.2. LF01 Digital Caliper Setup

  1. Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment (typically located on the top of the digital display unit) and insert a new battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  2. Power On: Press the "ON/OFF" button to turn on the caliper.
  3. Zeroing: Before taking any measurement, ensure the jaws are completely closed and clean. Press the "ZERO" button to set the display to zero. This establishes a reference point for accurate measurements.
  4. Unit Selection: Press the "mm/inch" button to switch between millimeters and inches as required for your measurement.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Using the 90 Degree Positioning Squares

The positioning squares are designed to hold workpieces at a perfect 90-degree angle during gluing, screwing, or other assembly processes. They are particularly useful for assembling boxes, drawers, cabinets, frames, and furniture.

  1. Place the 90-degree positioning square firmly against the corner of the two pieces of material you wish to join at a right angle.
  2. Use the provided clamps to secure the square and the workpieces together. Ensure the clamps are tightened sufficiently to prevent movement during assembly, but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the material.
  3. Once the pieces are secured, proceed with your joining method (e.g., applying glue, driving screws). The square will maintain the precise 90-degree alignment.
  4. After the joint is set, loosen the clamps and remove the positioning square.

4.2. Using the LF01 Digital Caliper

The digital caliper allows for four main types of measurements: outer diameter, inner diameter, depth, and step length.

  1. Outer Diameter Measurement: Place the object between the external measuring jaws. Slide the movable jaw using the thumb roller until it gently contacts the object. Read the measurement on the LCD display.
  2. Inner Diameter Measurement: Insert the internal measuring jaws into the opening of the object. Expand the jaws until they gently contact the inner surfaces. Read the measurement on the LCD display.
  3. Depth Measurement: Place the end of the main scale on the top surface of the object. Extend the depth blade into the hole or recess until it touches the bottom. Read the measurement on the LCD display.
  4. Step Measurement: Place the step measuring face of the caliper on the higher surface of the object. Extend the movable jaw until its step measuring face rests on the lower surface. Read the measurement on the LCD display.
  5. Unit Conversion: At any point during measurement, press the "mm/inch" button to instantly convert the displayed value between millimeters and inches.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning:
    • For the positioning squares, wipe them with a clean, dry cloth after each use to remove sawdust, glue residue, or other debris.
    • For the digital caliper, gently wipe the measuring surfaces and the main beam with a clean, lint-free cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or solvents. Ensure no liquid enters the electronic components.
  • Storage: Store both tools in a dry, clean environment, away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. Keep the digital caliper in its protective case when not in use to prevent damage to the measuring surfaces and electronics.
  • Battery Replacement (Caliper): Replace the battery in the digital caliper when the display becomes dim or erratic. Refer to the battery installation steps in the Setup section.
  • Lubrication (Caliper): Occasionally, a small amount of light machine oil can be applied to the sliding surfaces of the caliper to ensure smooth movement. Wipe off any excess.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Caliper Display Not Working:
    • Check battery: Ensure the battery is correctly installed and has sufficient charge. Replace if necessary.
    • Clean battery contacts: Gently clean the battery contacts in the compartment.
  • Inaccurate Caliper Readings:
    • Zero the caliper: Ensure the caliper is properly zeroed before each measurement by closing the jaws and pressing the "ZERO" button.
    • Clean measuring surfaces: Dust or debris on the jaws can affect accuracy. Clean thoroughly.
    • Check for damage: Inspect the measuring jaws for any signs of wear or damage.
  • Squares Not Holding Angle:
    • Ensure clamps are tightened: Verify that the M8 plastic nuts and adjustable fixed blocks are securely tightened.
    • Workpiece stability: Ensure the workpieces themselves are stable and not prone to shifting.
    • Inspect for damage: Check the squares and clamps for any bending or damage that might compromise their accuracy.
