5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Making Espresso
- Ensure the machine is on and preheated (indicator lights solid).

- Tamp the coffee grounds evenly and firmly. Wipe any excess grounds from the rim of the portafilter.
- Attach the portafilter to the brewing head by aligning it and twisting firmly to the right until secure.
- Place one or two pre-warmed cups on the drip tray beneath the portafilter spouts.
- Press the single or double espresso button. The machine will begin brewing.
- Monitor the pressure gauge for optimal brewing pressure.
- The machine will automatically stop when the programmed volume is reached. You can also press the button again to stop manually.
- Carefully remove the portafilter after brewing, discard the used coffee grounds, and rinse the portafilter and filter.

5.2 Frothing Milk (Steam Wand)
- Ensure the machine is on and preheated.
- Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Position the steam wand into the milk, just below the surface.
- Turn the steam/hot water knob to the steam position. Steam will begin to dispense.
- Lower the pitcher slightly to introduce air for frothing, then submerge the wand deeper to heat the milk. Continue until desired temperature and texture are achieved.
- Turn the steam/hot water knob back to the OFF position.
- Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filters: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse thoroughly under running water.
- Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal milk residue.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily or when the indicator floats up.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
6.2 Descaling
Regular descaling is crucial to maintain machine performance and extend its lifespan. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage, but generally every 2-3 months.
- Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions, or use a mixture of white vinegar and water (1:1 ratio).
- Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
- Place a large container under the portafilter and another under the steam wand.
- Turn on the machine and allow it to heat up.
- Run approximately half of the solution through the portafilter by pressing the double espresso button.
- Turn the steam/hot water knob to dispense the remaining solution through the steam wand.
- Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
- Empty and rinse the water tank thoroughly. Fill it with fresh water.
- Repeat steps 3-6 with fresh water to rinse the machine completely. Repeat rinsing if any descaler residue or taste remains.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee dispenses. | Water tank empty; machine not primed; portafilter clogged; coffee too finely ground/over-tamped. | Fill water tank; prime the machine; clean portafilter/filter; use coarser grind or less pressure when tamping. |
| Coffee brews too slowly or drips. | Coffee too finely ground; too much coffee in filter; over-tamped; machine needs descaling. | Use coarser grind; reduce coffee amount; tamp lighter; descale the machine. |
| Coffee brews too quickly. | Coffee too coarsely ground; not enough coffee; under-tamped. | Use finer grind; increase coffee amount; tamp more firmly. |
| No steam from wand. | Steam wand clogged; machine not hot enough; water tank empty. | Clean steam wand hole; wait for machine to heat up; fill water tank. |
| Water leaking from machine. | Water tank not seated correctly; drip tray full; portafilter not secured. | Reseat water tank; empty drip tray; secure portafilter firmly. |
