3. Setup
3.1 Power Source
The D-219 radio can be powered by two methods:
- Battery Operated: Insert 2 AA 1.5V batteries (not included) into the battery compartment located on the back of the radio. Ensure correct polarity (+/-).
- DC-IN 5V Power: Connect a DC-IN 5V power cord (not included) to the DC 5V IN port on the side of the radio.

3.2 Antenna
For optimal reception, extend the telescopic antenna fully. The antenna can be rotated 360° to find the best signal direction for FM and Shortwave bands. For AM reception, the radio uses a built-in ferrite bar antenna, so antenna orientation may not be as critical, but repositioning the radio itself can help.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off
Locate the power switch on the side of the radio. Slide it to the 'ON' position to turn on the radio. Slide it to 'OFF' to power down.
4.2 Band Selection
Use the band selector switch (labeled FM/AM/SW) to choose your desired frequency band: FM, AM, or Shortwave (SW).
4.3 Tuning
Rotate the tuning knob to scan through available stations within the selected band. The frequency scale on the front panel will indicate the approximate frequency. Adjust the tuning knob slowly for precise station selection.

4.4 Volume Control
Adjust the volume using the volume knob, typically located on the side of the radio. Turn clockwise to increase volume, counter-clockwise to decrease.
4.5 Earphone Use
For private listening, plug standard 3.5mm earphones (not included) into the earphone jack. The internal speaker will automatically mute when earphones are connected.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store the radio in a dry place away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the sound becomes weak or distorted, or the power indicator light dims.
- Antenna Care: Handle the telescopic antenna gently to avoid bending or breaking.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Power:
- Check if batteries are inserted correctly with proper polarity.
- Replace old batteries with new ones.
- If using DC power, ensure the power cord is securely connected and the power source is active.
- Poor Reception/Static:
- Fully extend and rotate the telescopic antenna for FM and SW bands.
- Reposition the radio to a different location, especially for AM reception, to avoid interference from electronic devices or structures.
- Tune slowly and precisely to find the strongest signal.
- No Sound from Speaker (with earphones unplugged):
- Ensure the volume is turned up.
- Check if earphones are fully unplugged from the jack.
