Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your mechanical keyboard.

Cleaning the Keyboard:

  • General Cleaning: Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild cleaning solution to wipe down the keycaps and keyboard surface.
  • Dust Removal: Use compressed air to blow away dust and debris from between the keycaps.
  • Deep Cleaning (Keycaps): Use the provided keycap puller to carefully remove keycaps. Clean the keycaps with warm, soapy water, rinse thoroughly, and ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.

Switch Replacement (Hot-Swappable):

The K636CLO features hot-swappable Red switches, allowing you to replace individual switches without soldering. This is useful for replacing faulty switches or customizing your typing experience with different switch types (compatible with 3-pin switches).

  1. Remove Keycap: Use the keycap puller to gently pull up the keycap you wish to remove.
  2. Remove Switch: Use the switch puller (metal tool with two prongs) to grasp the top and bottom clips of the switch. Apply gentle pressure and pull the switch straight up to remove it from the PCB.
  3. Insert New Switch: Align the pins of the new switch with the holes on the PCB. Gently push the switch down until it clicks into place. Ensure the pins are straight to avoid bending them.
  4. Reattach Keycap: Place the keycap onto the new switch stem and press down firmly.
