Figure 2: The built-in LCD screen provides real-time information, including carbon monoxide concentration in PPM and battery status, ensuring clear visibility of the device's operational state.

Figure 3: The detector incorporates both an electrochemical sensor for carbon monoxide detection and a photoelectric reflection sensor for smoke detection, providing comprehensive protection. While the product uses 7-year replaceable batteries, the sensors are designed for a 10-year operational lifespan.
4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Battery Installation
The Ecoey A8612B-4 detector requires 3 AA batteries (included) for operation.
- Twist the detector counter-clockwise to detach it from the mounting plate (if already installed).
- Locate the battery compartment on the back of the detector.
- Insert 3 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.

4.2 Choosing an Installation Location
For optimal protection, follow these guidelines:
- Install at least one smoke/CO detector on every level of your home, including basements and attics.
- For smoke detection, install detectors inside each bedroom and in the hallway outside each sleeping area.
- For CO detection, install detectors near sleeping areas and on every level of the home.
- Avoid installing near windows, doors, or vents where drafts could interfere with detection.
- Keep detectors away from cooking appliances, humid areas, and dusty environments.
- Mount on a ceiling or high on a wall (at least 4 inches from the ceiling).
4.3 Mounting the Detector
The detector comes with a blind-mounted hanging plate for easy installation.
- Select a suitable location on a ceiling or wall.
- Use the mounting plate as a template to mark the screw holes.
- Drill pilot holes and insert the provided wall anchors if necessary.
- Secure the mounting plate to the surface using the provided screws.
- Align the detector with the mounting plate and twist it clockwise until it locks securely into place.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Initial Power-Up
After battery installation, the detector will perform a self-test. The LCD will briefly display all segments, and the LED indicator will flash. The unit will then enter normal monitoring mode.
5.2 Normal Operation
In normal operation, the green LED indicator will flash approximately every 30 seconds. The LCD display will typically be off to conserve battery power, but may show '0 PPM' for CO if activated.

5.3 Test/Hush Function
The TEST/HUSH button is located in the center of the detector.

Figure 7: A finger pressing the central TEST/HUSH button.
- To Test: Press and hold the TEST/HUSH button for approximately 3 seconds. The alarm will sound, and the red LED will flash. This confirms the alarm and electronics are working. Release the button to stop the test.
- To Silence (Hush): During a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking smoke), press the TEST/HUSH button briefly. This will silence the alarm for approximately 10 minutes. The detector will automatically reset after this period if the smoke/CO concentration has cleared. If the hazard persists, the alarm will reactivate.
5.4 Alarm Conditions and Indicators
The detector provides both audible and visual warnings for different hazards.

Figure 8: The detector uses a three-color LED indicator system: Green for normal operation (power), Yellow for low battery or fault, and Red for an active alarm (smoke or CO).
- Smoke Alarm: The alarm will sound with 3 long beeps, pause, and repeat. The red LED will flash rapidly. The LCD may display a flame symbol.
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm: The alarm will sound with 4 quick beeps, pause, and repeat. The red LED will flash rapidly. The LCD will display the detected CO concentration in PPM.
- Low Battery Warning: The unit will chirp once every 40 seconds. The yellow LED will flash, and the LCD will display "Lb" with a blinking low battery symbol. Replace batteries immediately.
- Fault Warning: The unit will chirp once every 40 seconds. The yellow LED will flash, and the LCD will display "Err". This indicates a malfunction. Refer to troubleshooting.
- End of Life (EOL) Warning: The unit will chirp once every 40 seconds. The yellow LED will flash, and the LCD will display "EOL". This indicates the detector has reached the end of its operational lifespan and needs to be replaced.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures your detector functions correctly.
- Weekly Testing: Press the TEST/HUSH button weekly to verify the alarm sounds.
- Monthly Cleaning: Gently vacuum the detector's vents and cover with a soft brush attachment to remove dust and debris. Do not use cleaning sprays or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the 3 AA batteries every 7 years, or immediately when the low battery warning (chirp, yellow LED, "Lb" on LCD) occurs.
- Detector Replacement: Replace the entire detector unit 7 years after its manufacture date, or when the End of Life (EOL) warning appears.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Detector chirps every 40 seconds, yellow LED flashes, LCD shows "Lb". | Low battery. | Replace all 3 AA batteries immediately. |
| Detector chirps every 40 seconds, yellow LED flashes, LCD shows "Err". | Internal fault. | Try resetting the unit by removing batteries for 30 seconds and reinserting. If the fault persists, replace the detector. |
| Detector chirps every 40 seconds, yellow LED flashes, LCD shows "EOL". | End of operational life. | Replace the entire detector unit. |
| False alarm (smoke) during cooking or showering. | Steam or cooking fumes. | Press the TEST/HUSH button to silence the alarm temporarily. Relocate the detector if false alarms are frequent due to placement. Ensure proper ventilation. |
| Detector flashes red every 40 seconds after initial setup. | Alarm memory not cleared from factory testing. | Quickly press the TEST/HUSH button 3 times. Alternatively, the detector will reset its historical memory function after 72 hours. |
| No alarm during test. | Dead batteries, incorrect battery installation, or unit malfunction. | Check battery installation and replace if necessary. If still no alarm, replace the detector. |
