The Nitecore NU25 400L is an ultralight rechargeable headlamp equipped with dual beams (spotlight and floodlight) and a red light. It features a unibody optical lens system for uniform light distribution and is powered by a built-in 650mAh Li-ion battery, rechargeable via USB-C. Its compact and durable design makes it suitable for various outdoor activities.
Setup
1. Charging the Battery
- Locate the USB-C charging port on the headlamp.
- Connect the provided USB-C cable to the headlamp and a USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer, power bank).
- During charging, the four power indicators will flash to show the charging status. When fully charged, all four indicators will glow steadily.
- A full charge typically takes approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
2. Attaching the Headband
- Thread the elastic headband through the attachment points on the headlamp bracket.
- Adjust the length of the headband using the buckles to achieve a comfortable and secure fit around your head.
- The headband is designed to be dual-purpose, featuring reflective and glow-in-the-dark properties. It can also be detached for cleaning or to be used as a running headband.
Operating Instructions
1. Power Button and Mode Button
The NU25 400L features two distinct buttons for operation: the Power Button (larger, raised) and the Mode Button (smaller, recessed). These buttons are designed for easy one-handed operation.
2. Turning On/Off
- To Turn On: Press and hold the Power Button for approximately 1 second.
- To Turn Off: Press and hold the Power Button for approximately 1 second while the light is on.
3. Brightness Levels and Light Source Selection
The headlamp offers four brightness levels and three light sources (Spotlight, Floodlight, Red Light).
- White Light (Spotlight/Floodlight):
- When the light is on, short press the Mode Button to cycle through brightness levels: Low (Floodlight) → Medium (Floodlight) → High (Spotlight + Floodlight).
- To switch between Spotlight and Floodlight modes (when not in High), double-press the Power Button.
- Red Light:
- When the light is off, press and hold the Mode Button for approximately 1 second to directly access Red Light mode.
- While in Red Light mode, short press the Mode Button to cycle between Red Light Constant On → Red Light Slow Flash.
4. Special Modes (SOS, Location Beacon)
- When the light is off, double-press the Power Button to activate the SOS mode.
- While in SOS mode, short press the Mode Button to switch to Location Beacon mode.
- To exit special modes, short press the Power Button.
5. Lockout Mode
Lockout Mode prevents accidental activation of the headlamp, conserving battery life and preventing unintended light emission.
- To Activate Lockout Mode: When the light is off, press and hold both the Power Button and the Mode Button simultaneously for approximately 2 seconds until the headlamp flashes once.
- To Deactivate Lockout Mode: While in Lockout Mode, press and hold both buttons simultaneously for approximately 2 seconds until the headlamp flashes once and then turns on.
6. Power Indication
The headlamp features four power indicators to display the remaining battery level:
- 4 Indicators On: Approximately 75% - 100%
- 3 Indicators On: Approximately 50% - 75%
- 2 Indicators On: Approximately 25% - 50%
- 1 Indicator On: Below 25% (Recharge recommended)
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the headlamp body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the headlamp in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For long-term storage, it is recommended to fully charge the battery every three months to maintain battery health.
- Water Resistance: The NU25 400L is rated IP66, meaning it is protected against dust ingress and powerful water jets. It is not designed for submersion.
Troubleshooting
- Headlamp not turning on:
- Check if the battery is charged. Connect to a USB-C power source to charge.
- Ensure the headlamp is not in Lockout Mode. Deactivate Lockout Mode as described in the Operating Instructions.
- Light output is dim:
- The battery level may be low. Recharge the headlamp.
- Ensure the lens is clean and free from obstructions.
- Charging issue:
- Verify the USB-C cable is properly connected to both the headlamp and the power source.
- Try a different USB-C cable or power adapter.
