Operating Instructions

Using the Compass

The watch features an analog compass. The central bidirectional hand acts as the compass needle.

  1. Ensure the watch is held horizontally.
  2. Press the lower pusher (C) to activate the compass function. The central hand will point North.
  3. Rotate the watch until the central hand aligns with the 'N' (North) marker on the dial.
  4. The other cardinal points (E, S, W) will then indicate their respective directions.
  5. The compass function will automatically deactivate after a short period to conserve battery.

Using the Thermometer

The watch's thermometer measures ambient air or water temperature. For accurate air temperature readings, remove the watch from your wrist for at least 5-10 minutes to allow it to acclimate to the ambient temperature, as body heat can affect readings.

  1. Press the upper pusher (A) to activate the thermometer function. The central hand will indicate the temperature on the dedicated scale.
  2. The temperature can be displayed in Celsius or Fahrenheit, depending on the watch's configuration. Refer to the full user guide for changing units if necessary.
  3. The thermometer function will automatically deactivate after a short period.

Indiglo Night-Light

To illuminate the watch dial in low-light conditions, press and hold the crown (B) for a few seconds. The Indiglo night-light will activate, providing even illumination across the dial.

Maintenance

Cleaning Your Watch

Regular cleaning helps maintain the appearance and longevity of your watch.

  • Wipe the watch case and crystal with a soft, damp cloth.
  • For the silicone strap, use mild soap and water, then rinse thoroughly and dry.
  • Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the watch's finish.

Water Resistance

This watch is water-resistant up to 100 meters (330 feet). This rating makes it suitable for snorkeling and swimming, but not for scuba diving.

  • Important: Do not operate the crown or pushers when the watch is wet or submerged, as this can compromise the water resistance.
  • After exposure to saltwater, rinse the watch with fresh water and dry it thoroughly.

Battery Replacement

The watch is powered by a 12V battery. When the battery needs replacement, it is recommended to take the watch to an authorized Timex service center or a qualified watch technician. This ensures proper battery installation and re-sealing to maintain water resistance.

Troubleshooting

  • Watch not keeping accurate time:

Ensure the crown is fully pushed in to position 1. If the issue persists, the battery may be low and require replacement.

  • Compass not pointing North correctly:

Ensure you are holding the watch horizontally and away from strong magnetic fields (e.g., magnets, large electronic devices). If the compass consistently provides inaccurate readings, it may require recalibration or service. Refer to the full user guide for detailed calibration steps.

  • Inaccurate temperature readings:

For accurate air temperature, remove the watch from your wrist for at least 5-10 minutes to allow it to stabilize to ambient conditions, as body heat significantly affects readings.

  • Tide sensor not accurate:

Recalibrate the tide sensor using the current local high or low tide information. Ensure the crown is fully pushed in after calibration.

  • Indiglo light not working:

Check if the battery is low. If the battery is new and the light still doesn't work, contact customer support.
