Introduction

The SwitchBot Hub 2 is a versatile 4-in-1 smart home hub designed to integrate and automate various devices within your home. It functions as a Wi-Fi thermometer and hygrometer, an infrared (IR) remote control, and features two smart buttons for convenient control. It also serves as a gateway to connect other SwitchBot devices to your Wi-Fi network and supports Matter for broader smart home compatibility.

Setup

1. Physical Installation

  1. Power Connection: Connect the provided 5V 2A adapter to the SwitchBot Hub 2 and plug it into a power outlet. The device will power on automatically.
  2. Placement: Place the Hub 2 on a flat surface, such as a tabletop, in a central location within your home to ensure optimal Wi-Fi and IR signal coverage. Ensure the temperature and humidity data cable is positioned to accurately measure the ambient environment.

2. App Installation and Device Pairing

  1. Download the App: Download the latest SwitchBot app from your smartphone's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Create Account: Open the app and create a new SwitchBot account or log in to an existing one.
  3. Add Device: In the app, tap the '+' icon to add a new device. Select 'Hub 2' from the list of available devices and follow the on-screen instructions to pair it with your smartphone via Bluetooth.
  4. Wi-Fi Connection: During the pairing process, you will be prompted to connect the Hub 2 to your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Enter your Wi-Fi credentials carefully.

3. Matter Integration (for HomeKit)

The SwitchBot Hub 2 supports Matter, enabling compatibility with HomeKit and other Matter-enabled platforms. Follow the in-app instructions to enable Matter and add the Hub 2 to your HomeKit setup. This allows selected SwitchBot products (e.g., Lock, Curtains, Blind Tilts) to be controlled via HomeKit.

Operating Instructions

1. Temperature and Humidity Monitoring

The SwitchBot Hub 2 features a built-in industrial Swiss-made chip for accurate temperature and humidity readings. The display on the device shows current temperature and humidity. You can monitor these readings, along with historical data and variations, anytime and anywhere via the SwitchBot app.

2. Light Sensor Functionality

The Hub 2's panel is equipped with a light sensor that allows the screen brightness to adapt seamlessly to the environment. This sensor also provides illumination data that can be monitored in the app.

3. Smart Button Usage

The device includes two physical smart buttons on its front. These buttons can be configured within the SwitchBot app to trigger household appliances or automation scenes with a simple tap. This feature is particularly useful for individuals who may not use smartphones or voice commands.

4. Controlling IR Appliances

Temperature, humidity, and light data detected by the Hub 2 can be used as trigger conditions for automatic scenes. For example, you can set up a scene to turn on your air conditioner if the temperature exceeds a certain threshold. Geo-fencing allows for location-based automation, such as activating devices when you arrive home.
