Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your kettle and ensure optimal performance.
Exterior Cleaning:
- Always unplug the kettle from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the kettle with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the stainless steel finish.
- Ensure no water enters the electrical components or the power base.
- Dry thoroughly after cleaning.
Descaling:
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) may build up inside the kettle, especially in hard water areas. This can affect performance and taste. Descale your kettle regularly.
- Fill the kettle with a mixture of one part white vinegar and two parts water. Alternatively, use a commercial descaling solution following the product's instructions.
- Allow the solution to soak in the kettle for at least 30 minutes, or longer for heavy scale. Do not boil the vinegar solution.
- Empty the kettle and rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times to remove any residue and vinegar smell.
- If necessary, boil fresh water in the kettle and discard it to ensure all descaling solution is removed.
Storage:
When not in use, store the kettle in a clean, dry place. Ensure the power cord is neatly wrapped around the base if a cord storage feature is available.
