2. Safety Instructions

WARNING: Failure to follow these safety instructions may result in fire, electric shock, or injury.

  • Always ensure the heater is fully submerged in water before connecting it to a power source. Operating the heater out of water will cause damage and poses a fire hazard.
  • Disconnect the power supply to the heater and all other aquarium equipment before performing any maintenance, water changes, or handling the heater.
  • Allow the heater to cool down for at least 15-20 minutes after disconnecting power before removing it from the water.
  • Do not install suction cups directly on the heating element area of the heater.
  • Ensure the power cord is not damaged, pinched, or kinked. Do not use if the cord or plug is damaged.
  • This appliance is for indoor use only and intended for aquariums. Do not use for other purposes.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • If the heater falls into the water, do not reach for it. First, unplug it, then retrieve it.

5. Setup and Installation

  1. Unpack and Inspect: Carefully remove the heater and all accessories from the packaging. Inspect for any signs of damage. Do not use if damaged.
  2. Placement in Aquarium: Position the heater in an area of the aquarium with good water circulation to ensure even heat distribution. The heater can be installed vertically or horizontally.
  3. Secure with Suction Cups: Attach the provided suction cups to the heater body. Ensure the suction cups are placed on the non-heating sections of the heater, away from the heating element. Press firmly against the clean inner glass of the aquarium to secure.
  4. Submerge Fully: Ensure the heater is completely submerged in the water before plugging it into a power outlet. The water level must always be above the minimum water line indicator on the heater (if present) or cover the entire glass tube.
  5. Connect Power: Once fully submerged, plug the heater into a suitable 110-120V, 60Hz power outlet.
  6. Install Thermometer: Attach the sticker thermometer to the outside of the aquarium glass, away from the heater, to monitor the water temperature independently.

Proper installation requires the heater to be fully submerged. Suction cups should be placed away from the heating element.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Set Desired Temperature: Turn the knob located at the top of the heater to select your desired water temperature. The temperature range is typically 63°F to 89°F (17°C to 32°C).
  2. Monitor Indicator Light: When the heater is actively heating the water, the orange "Working" indicator light will illuminate. Once the set temperature is reached, the light will turn off, and the heater will automatically cycle on and off to maintain the temperature.
  3. Verify Temperature: Use the included sticker thermometer or a separate aquarium thermometer to verify the actual water temperature. Adjust the heater's setting slightly if necessary to achieve your desired temperature. Allow several hours for the water temperature to stabilize after any adjustment.
  4. Electronic Temperature Control: The DaToo D1 heater utilizes an electronic chip thermostat for enhanced accuracy and stability, minimizing temperature fluctuations.

7. Maintenance

  • Regular Cleaning: Over time, algae or mineral deposits may accumulate on the heater's surface. Disconnect the heater from power and allow it to cool before gently wiping it clean with a soft cloth or sponge. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Inspect Power Cord: Periodically check the power cord for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace the heater immediately if any damage is found.
  • Check Suction Cups: Ensure the suction cups remain firmly attached to the aquarium glass. Re-position or clean them if they lose their grip.
  • Water Changes: Always unplug the heater and allow it to cool before performing water changes that might expose the heater to air.
