1. Introduction

The Fujifilm X-T5 is a compact and lightweight mirrorless digital camera featuring the latest high-resolution, 40.2-megapixel X-Trans 5 HR CMOS sensor. Designed for both stunning stills and capable moviemaking, it offers a classic, dial-based layout for intuitive control. Key features include a seven-stop in-body image stabilization system, Pixel Shift Multi-Shot mode for ultra-high-resolution files, and versatile video recording capabilities up to 6.2K.

3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

Insert the provided NP-W235 battery into the battery compartment located at the bottom of the camera. Ensure it clicks securely into place. Charge the battery fully before first use using the supplied charger.

3.2 Memory Card Insertion

The X-T5 supports SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards (UHS-I, UHS-II). Open the memory card slot cover on the side of the camera and insert the card(s) with the label facing the correct direction until it clicks. Close the cover securely.

3.3 Lens Attachment

Align the white dot on the lens with the white dot on the camera's lens mount. Rotate the lens clockwise until it clicks into place. To detach, press the lens release button and rotate counter-clockwise.

3.4 Initial Power On & Basic Settings

Turn the camera on using the power switch. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the date, time, time zone, and language. These settings are crucial for proper file management.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1 Photography Features

The X-T5 is equipped with a 40.2-megapixel X-Trans 5 HR CMOS sensor, delivering exceptional image quality. Its classic dial-based controls allow for quick adjustments to key settings.

• Shutter Speed: Adjust using the dedicated dial on the top plate. The electronic shutter offers speeds up to 1/180,000 sec, while the mechanical shutter goes up to 1/8000 sec.
• ISO Sensitivity: Control light sensitivity with the ISO dial, ranging natively from ISO 125.
• Continuous Shooting: Capture fast-moving subjects at up to 15 frames per second (fps) with the mechanical shutter or 20fps with the electronic shutter.
• Film Simulations: Utilize 19 built-in film simulations to achieve unique color and tonal renditions directly in-camera, inspired by Fujifilm's photographic film heritage.
• In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS): The seven-stop IBIS system effectively minimizes camera shake, allowing for sharper images in challenging conditions.
• Autofocus System: Features subject detection autofocus powered by deep-learning AI, capable of tracking animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, planes, and trains.

4.2 Video Recording

The X-T5 offers robust video capabilities for professional-grade footage.

• Internal Recording: Record up to 6.2K/30p in 4:2:2 10-bit color directly to the memory card.
• 4K HQ Mode: Oversamples 6.2K footage to produce superior 4K output.
• Log Recording: Supports F-Log and F-Log2 for expanded dynamic range (13+ stops with F-Log2), providing greater flexibility in post-production.
• External RAW Output: Output 12-bit Apple ProRes RAW and Blackmagic RAW via HDMI to compatible Atomos and Blackmagic devices.
