3. Installation Guide

Important Safety Warning:

Improper installation of this hardwire kit may damage your vehicle's electrical system or features. If you are unsure about any step or have difficulties, it is highly recommended to seek assistance from a qualified professional or a local automotive service center.

3.1 Identifying Fuse Types and Connections

The hardwire kit requires connection to your vehicle's fuse box. It has three leads:

  • ACC (Red Wire): Connects to a fuse that is only powered when the ignition is on (e.g., car radio, cigarette lighter).
  • BAT+ (Yellow Wire): Connects to a fuse that has constant power, even when the ignition is off (e.g., hazard lights, interior lights).
  • GND- (Black Wire): Connects to a metal bolt or screw on the vehicle's chassis for grounding.

Use the provided fuse taps to connect the ACC and BAT+ wires to appropriate fuses in your vehicle's fuse box. The kit includes various fuse tap sizes (Micro, Mini, Small, Medium) to match your vehicle's fuse type.

Different types of fuse tap sets

Image: Illustration of the different fuse tap sizes (Micro, Mini, Small, Medium) included in the kit, along with a warm tip to insert the provided fuse into the corresponding slot.

Warm Tip: When using a fuse tap, insert the original fuse from your vehicle into the lower slot of the tap, and the new fuse (provided with the kit) for the dash cam into the upper slot. Ensure the correct fuse size is used for your vehicle.

3.2 General Installation Steps:

  1. Locate Fuse Box: Identify your vehicle's fuse box. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for its location (typically under the dashboard, in the engine bay, or in the trunk).
  2. Identify Fuse Slots: Using a circuit tester (not included), identify a fuse slot that is "ACC" (switched power, only on with ignition) and a fuse slot that is "BAT+" (constant power, always on).
  3. Connect ACC Wire: Select the appropriate fuse tap for your vehicle's ACC fuse. Insert the original ACC fuse into the lower slot of the tap, and a new fuse (e.g., 5A) into the upper slot. Crimp the red ACC wire of the hardwire kit to the fuse tap. Plug the fuse tap into the identified ACC fuse slot.
  4. Connect BAT+ Wire: Repeat the process for the BAT+ wire, connecting it to a constant power fuse slot using another appropriate fuse tap.
  5. Connect GND- Wire: Securely attach the black GND- wire to a clean, unpainted metal bolt or screw on the vehicle's chassis. This provides a proper ground connection.
  6. Route Cable: Carefully route the hardwire kit cable from the fuse box to the location of your ARIFAYZ Q3 Dash Cam, tucking it neatly along the vehicle's trim or headliner. Use the provided crowbar tool to assist in tucking the cable.
  7. Connect to Dash Cam: Plug the Mini USB end of the hardwire kit into the Mini USB power input port on your ARIFAYZ Q3 Dash Cam.
  8. Test Connection: Start your vehicle to ensure the dash cam powers on. Then, turn off the ignition and remove the key to verify the dash cam enters parking mode (if configured) or remains powered for 24-hour surveillance.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the ARIFAYZ Hardwire Kit is correctly installed, your ARIFAYZ Q3 Dash Cam will receive continuous power for 24-hour surveillance.

4.1 Enabling 24-Hour Parking Mode:

For the ARIFAYZ Q3 Dash Cam to record continuously or enter time-lapse recording mode when the vehicle is off, you must enable the 'Time Lapse Record' feature within your Q3 dash cam's settings. Refer to your ARIFAYZ Q3 Dash Cam's user manual for specific instructions on how to access and enable this setting.

Note: If 'Time Lapse Record' is not enabled on your Q3 dash cam, it will not record when your car is shut down, even with the hardwire kit installed.

5. Maintenance

The ARIFAYZ Hardwire Kit is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance. However, periodic checks can ensure optimal performance:

  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check the visible portions of the cable for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
  • Fuse Check: If your dash cam stops receiving power in parking mode, check the fuses in the fuse taps connected to the hardwire kit. Replace any blown fuses with new ones of the same amperage.
  • Ground Connection: Ensure the ground connection (black wire) remains securely attached to the vehicle's chassis.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Dash cam does not record when car is off.'Time Lapse Record' or parking mode feature not enabled on Q3 dash cam. Incorrect BAT+ fuse connection. Blown fuse.Ensure 'Time Lapse Record' is enabled in your ARIFAYZ Q3 Dash Cam settings. Verify the BAT+ wire is connected to a constant power fuse. Check and replace fuses if necessary.
Dash cam does not power on at all.Loose connection. Blown fuse. Incorrect wiring.Check all three connections (ACC, BAT+, GND-) for secure fit. Inspect fuses in the fuse taps and replace if blown. Re-verify wiring against the installation guide.
Radio interference after installation.Electromagnetic interference from power supply. The ARIFAYZ hardwire kit is designed with anti-interference properties. If interference persists, ensure the cable is routed away from sensitive radio antennas or components. Consult a professional if the issue continues.
Vehicle battery drains.Low voltage protection not functioning or battery is weak. The hardwire kit has built-in low voltage protection. Ensure your vehicle's battery is in good condition. If battery drain persists, consult an automotive electrician.
