4. Maintenance

4.1 Cleaning

To clean the remote control, use a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaning pads, as these can damage the remote's surface or internal components.

4.2 Battery Replacement

Replace the batteries when the remote control's performance degrades or it stops responding. Always replace both batteries at the same time with new 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries, as this can lead to leakage or damage.

If the remote will not be used for an extended period (e.g., one month or more), remove the batteries to prevent potential leakage and corrosion.

5. Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your RC-866M remote control, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Remote is not responding:
    • Ensure the batteries are installed correctly with the correct polarity.
    • Replace the batteries with fresh 1.5V AA Alkaline batteries.
    • Check for any obstructions between the remote control and the AV receiver's infrared sensor.
    • Ensure you are within the effective operating range and pointing the remote directly at the receiver.
  • Remote controls the receiver but not other devices (e.g., TV, cable box):
    • This RC-866M replacement remote control is specifically designed for direct compatibility with the listed Onkyo AV Receiver models (TX-NR626, HT-RC560).
    • It is not a universal remote and is not programmable to control other devices. Its functionality is limited to the compatible Onkyo AV Receiver.
  • Certain buttons do not work:
    • Verify that the button corresponds to a function available on your specific Onkyo AV Receiver model.
    • Ensure the remote is clean and there is no debris lodged under the buttons.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, please contact customer support.
