2. Setup
2.1 Power Source
The Casio JE-12D-WE-N calculator operates on both solar power and a backup battery. For optimal performance, ensure the solar panel is exposed to sufficient light. If the display is dim or unresponsive in low light, the battery may be low.
2.2 Initial Use
- Press the ON/AC button to turn on the calculator and clear any previous calculations.
- Verify the display shows "0" to confirm it is ready for use.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Basic Calculations
- Addition (+), Subtraction (-), Multiplication (×), Division (÷): Enter the first number, press the desired operator key, enter the second number, then press =.
- Clear Entry (C): Clears the last entered number or operation.
- All Clear (AC): Clears all entries and calculations, resetting the calculator to zero.
3.2 Memory Functions
- M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
- M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
- MR: Recalls the value stored in memory.
- MC: Clears the memory.
3.3 Tax Calculation
The calculator includes dedicated keys for tax calculations.
- Setting the Tax Rate: Press 税率設定 (Tax Rate Setting), enter the tax rate percentage, then press 税率設定 again to save.
- Tax+: Adds tax to the displayed value.
- Tax-: Subtracts tax from the displayed value.
3.4 Day/Time Calculation
Use the 日数/時間 (Day/Time) key for specific date and time calculations. Refer to the on-screen indicators for day and time modes.

4.2 Responsive Key Input
The calculator features a 3-key rollover function, allowing for rapid input without missed keystrokes. The key arrangement and concave shape of the keys are designed for optimal typing comfort and accuracy.

4.3 Durable Keys and Stability
Keys are constructed using a two-color molded resin process (excluding some keys), ensuring that numbers and symbols do not wear off over time. Large stoppers on the base prevent the calculator from slipping during use, providing stable operation.

5. Maintenance
5.1 Cleaning
- Wipe the calculator with a soft, dry cloth.
- For stubborn dirt, slightly dampen the cloth with water and a mild detergent, then wipe dry immediately.
- Do not use strong solvents, abrasive cleaners, or spray cleaners directly onto the calculator.
5.2 Storage
Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
6. Troubleshooting
