2. Initial Setup
2.1 Initial Charging
Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch is powered by light. Upon receiving your watch, it may be in a low power state. To ensure optimal performance, expose the watch face to bright light for several hours. This can be natural sunlight (avoiding extreme heat) or artificial light. A full charge can take approximately 8-10 hours under bright sunlight or significantly longer under indoor lighting.
2.2 Setting the Time and Date
To set the time and date on your watch:
- Pull the crown out to the second click: This will stop the second hand.
- Rotate the crown to set the time: Turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise until the desired time is displayed. Ensure you set the correct AM/PM by observing when the date changes (it typically changes around midnight).
- Push the crown in to the first click: This allows you to set the date.
- Rotate the crown to set the date: Turn the crown until the correct date is displayed.
- Push the crown back in completely: This will restart the second hand and begin normal operation.

3. Operating Your Watch
3.1 Eco-Drive Technology
Your Citizen Eco-Drive watch harnesses the power of light from any source, natural or artificial, and converts it into electrical energy. This energy is stored in a permanently rechargeable power cell, eliminating the need for battery replacement. A fully charged Eco-Drive watch can operate for several months, even in complete darkness.

3.2 Day-Date Display
Your watch features a day-date display, which automatically advances at midnight. If the date changes during the day, it indicates that the AM/PM setting is incorrect. To correct this, follow the time setting instructions in Section 2.2, advancing the time by 12 hours.
4. Care and Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning Your Watch
To maintain the appearance of your watch, regularly wipe the case and bracelet with a soft, dry cloth. For stainless steel components, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by a dry cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials, as these can damage the finish and sapphire crystal.
4.2 Water Resistance
Your watch is water resistant to 100 meters (10 BAR). This means it is suitable for everyday use, including showering, swimming, and snorkeling. However, it is not recommended for scuba diving. Always ensure the crown is pushed in completely before exposing the watch to water.
4.3 Power Maintenance and Storage
To ensure your Eco-Drive watch remains charged, avoid storing it in dark places for extended periods. If the watch is stored in darkness, it may stop running. Expose it to light to reactivate and recharge it. For long-term storage, place it in an area where it can receive regular light exposure.

5. Troubleshooting
- Watch is not running: Ensure the watch has been exposed to sufficient light for charging. Place it under bright light for several hours. If it still does not run, contact customer support.
- Time or Date is incorrect: Refer to Section 2.2 for instructions on how to correctly set the time and date.
- Condensation inside the crystal: If condensation appears and does not dissipate quickly, it may indicate a seal issue. Contact customer support for assistance.
- Second hand moves in two-second intervals: This is a low power warning. Expose the watch to bright light immediately to recharge it.
