- Install the Exterior Keypad:
Carefully route the power cable from the exterior keypad through the door hole. Insert the exterior keypad assembly, ensuring the lock bar is inserted horizontally through the latch mechanism. The keypad should sit flush against the door.
- Install the Gasket:
Place the gasket onto the door, aligning it with the holes. Ensure the convex side of the gasket faces outwards. This helps protect the internal components from moisture.
- Install the Mounting Plate:
Position the mounting plate over the gasket, aligning it with the exterior keypad and the latch. Secure the mounting plate to the door using the long screws provided. Installation Tip: To ensure good alignment, drive all screws halfway first, then tighten them successively with proper pressure.
- Install the Interior Rear Lock:
Connect the power cable from the exterior keypad to the interior rear lock assembly. Retract any excess power cord into the door hole to prevent pinching. Carefully align the interior lock assembly with the mounting plate and secure it with the remaining screws. Ensure the thumb turn operates smoothly.
- Install Batteries:
Open the battery cover on the interior lock assembly. Insert 4 new AAA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the battery cover securely.
- Test Operation:
After installation, test the lock's functionality using both the keypad and the physical key. Ensure the deadbolt extends and retracts smoothly without obstruction.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Initial Setup and Master Code
Upon first power-up, the lock will be in factory default mode. It is highly recommended to set a Master Code immediately for security. The Master Code is used to program all other settings and user codes.
- Setting Master Code: Press the 'Program' button (usually on the interior unit) -> Enter a new 4-8 digit Master Code -> Press 'Program' again.
5.2. Adding User Codes
You can add up to 300 unique user codes for family members or guests.
- Adding User Code: Press 'Program' -> Enter Master Code -> Press 'Program' -> Enter new 4-8 digit User Code -> Press 'Program' again.
5.3. Unlocking and Locking
- Unlocking with Code: Enter your User Code or Master Code on the keypad, then press the 'Lock/Unlock' button (or 'Enter' button, depending on model). The deadbolt will retract.
- Unlocking with Key: Insert the physical key into the keyhole and turn to unlock.
- Auto-Lock: The lock will automatically re-lock after a set period (default is usually 30 seconds, customizable).
- One-Touch Locking: Press and hold the 'Lock/Unlock' button for 3 seconds to manually lock the door from the outside.
- Locking from Inside: Turn the thumb turn on the interior unit to lock the door.
5.4. Advanced Features
- Silent Mode: To enable/disable silent mode, refer to the specific programming instructions in your quick start guide. This feature mutes keypad beeps.
- Private Mode: When activated, all regular user codes are temporarily invalidated, allowing only Master Code or physical key access. This is useful for privacy. Refer to programming instructions for activation.
- Visitor Mode: Allows creation of temporary codes that expire after a single use or a set time. Consult programming instructions for details.
- Code Protection (Anti-Peep): To prevent others from guessing your code, you can enter random digits before and after your actual code. For example, if your code is 1234, you can enter 567123489. The lock will still recognize 1234.
6. Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: When the battery low indicator appears (or you hear low battery alerts), replace all 4 AAA alkaline batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
- Cleaning: Clean the keypad and lock body with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish or electronic components.
- Lubrication: Periodically check the deadbolt mechanism for smooth operation. If needed, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant to the latch bolt.
