2. Safety Information

4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the performance and safety of your trolling motor. The Xi3 is designed for bow-mount installation.
4.1 Mounting the Motor
- Choose a flat, stable surface on the bow of your boat for mounting. Ensure sufficient clearance for deployment and stowing.
- Position the motor base and mark the drilling locations for the mounting bolts.

4.2 Electrical Connection
- The Xi3 operates on a 12-volt DC power supply. Connect the motor's power cables directly to a dedicated 12-volt deep cycle marine battery.
- Ensure proper polarity: red to positive (+), black to negative (-).
- Install an appropriate circuit breaker or fuse (not included) in the positive line, as close to the battery as possible, to protect the motor and wiring. The motor has a maximum draw of 52 amps.
5. Operating Instructions
The MotorGuide Xi3 is designed for intuitive operation with its wireless remote and SecureStep system.
5.1 Stowing and Deploying (SecureStep System)
- To deploy: From a comfortable standing position, step on the release lever located on the motor base. The motor will smoothly lower into the water. Ensure the shaft is fully extended and locked into the deployed position.
- To stow: From a comfortable standing position, step on the release lever. Guide the motor upwards until it locks securely into its stowed position on the mount.

5.2 Wireless Remote Control
The Xi3 comes standard with a wireless hand-held remote control, allowing you to operate the motor from anywhere on the boat.

- Speed Control: Use the '+' and '-' buttons to increase or decrease motor speed.
- Steering: Use the left and right arrow buttons to steer the motor.
