Neumann KH 150 AES67
Neumann KH 150 AES67 2-Way DSP Nearfield Monitor
User Manual
Introduction
The Neumann KH 150 AES67 is a high-performance bi-amplified studio monitor designed for professional audio recording and monitoring. It features a 6.5-inch woofer within a bass reflex cabinet, delivering exceptional low-frequency response and high sound pressure levels with clarity. Integrated DSP-controlled electronics ensure a linear phase response and facilitate room-adaptive calibration through Neumann's MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment system.

Setup
Placement
Optimal placement of the KH 150 monitors is crucial for accurate sound reproduction. Position the monitors symmetrically in your listening environment, forming an equilateral triangle with your listening position. Ensure the tweeters are at ear height. Avoid placing monitors directly against walls or in corners, as this can exaggerate bass frequencies. If necessary, use acoustic treatment to manage room reflections.

Connections
- Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cable to the IEC inlet on the rear of the monitor and then to a suitable AC power outlet. Ensure the power switch is in the OFF position before connecting.
- Audio Input: The KH 150 AES67 supports Analog, S/PDIF, Optical, and Coaxial inputs.
- For analog signals, use balanced XLR cables.
- For digital signals, connect via S/PDIF (coaxial or optical) or AES67 network. Refer to the detailed AES67 setup guide for network configuration.
- Network Connection (for AES67): For AES67 functionality and MA 1 calibration, connect an Ethernet cable from your network switch to the dedicated network port on the monitor.
Operation
Powering On/Off
To power on the monitor, flip the power switch located on the rear panel to the ON position. The front panel LED will illuminate. To power off, flip the switch back to the OFF position.
Input Selection and Volume Control
Input selection and volume control are typically managed via the integrated DSP and can be controlled through the Neumann MA 1 software or compatible AES67 controllers. For initial setup, ensure your audio source is active and the monitor's input is correctly selected.
DSP Features and MA 1 Calibration
The KH 150 AES67 features advanced DSP capabilities for precise sound reproduction. For optimal performance, it is highly recommended to use the Neumann MA 1 Automatic Monitor Alignment software. This software analyzes your room acoustics and calibrates the monitors to achieve the most accurate frequency and phase response for your specific listening environment. Visit the official Neumann website for MA 1 software download and detailed instructions.

Maintenance
Cleaning
To clean the monitor, use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth. For stubborn marks, slightly dampen the cloth with water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or chemical sprays, as these can damage the finish or internal components. Ensure the monitor is powered off and disconnected from the power source before cleaning.
Storage
When not in use for extended periods, store the monitors in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. It is recommended to use the original packaging for transport or long-term storage to protect the unit from dust and physical damage.
Firmware Updates
Periodically check the Neumann website for firmware updates for your KH 150 AES67 monitors. Firmware updates can provide performance enhancements, new features, or bug fixes. Follow the instructions provided by Neumann carefully when performing any firmware update.
