Setup

1. Unpacking and Package Contents

Carefully unpack the NAS and verify all components are present. The package should contain:

  • TS-H3087XU-RP NAS Unit
  • Ethernet cable x 1
  • Power cord x 2
  • Flat head screw (for 3.5" HDD) x 96
  • Flat head screw (for 2.5" HDD) x 120

2. Hardware Installation

The TS-h3087XU-RP is a 4U rackmount unit. Ensure proper rack space and ventilation before installation.

Drive Installation

The NAS supports 24 x 3.5-inch SATA drives in the front bays and 6 x 2.5-inch SATA drives. Follow these steps to install drives:

  1. Unlock and pull out a drive tray.
  2. Place the HDD/SSD into the tray and secure it with the provided screws.
  3. Slide the drive tray back into the bay until it clicks into place.

Network Connection

Connect the NAS to your network using the provided Ethernet cable. The unit features dual 10GBASE-T ports and dual 2.5GbE RJ45 ports for high-speed connectivity.

Power Connection

Connect both power cords to the NAS and then to separate power outlets or a UPS for redundancy.

3. Initial Power On

Press the power button on the front panel. The NAS will boot up, and you can proceed with initial software configuration via a web browser.

1. QuTS hero Operating System

The TS-h3087XU-RP operates on QNAP's ZFS-based QuTS hero OS. This operating system combines the app-based QTS with the 128-bit ZFS file system, offering flexible storage management, comprehensive data protection, and optimized performance for demanding IT environments.

2. Storage Management
