Setup and Installation

The AEGISLINK SC200 is designed for easy, battery-operated installation without the need for an electrician. It can be mounted using the included screws and anchor plugs.

  1. Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment on the back of the detector. Insert the included CR123A lithium battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  2. Mounting Location: Choose a central location on the ceiling or wall, away from vents, windows, and doors, and at least 10 cm (4 inches) from any corner. Avoid placing it in kitchens, bathrooms, or garages where false alarms are common.
  3. Install Mounting Bracket: Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark the drill holes on the chosen surface. Drill the holes, insert the anchor plugs, and secure the mounting bracket with the provided screws.
  4. Attach Detector: Align the detector with the mounting bracket and twist it clockwise until it locks securely into place. The detector is designed to twist right on and twist off for easy installation and battery replacement.
  5. Initial Test: After installation, press the Test/Silence button to ensure the alarm is functioning correctly. Refer to the 'Operating Instructions' section for details on testing.

Operating Instructions

  • Normal Operation: In normal conditions, the green LED indicator will flash periodically, indicating that the unit is powered and monitoring. The LCD will typically be off to save power, activating only during tests or alarms.
  • Test/Silence Button: Press and hold the Test/Silence button to test the alarm's functionality. The alarm will sound, and the LCD will display information. Release the button to stop the test. This button can also be used to silence nuisance alarms (e.g., from cooking smoke) for a short period.
  • Smoke Alarm: If smoke is detected, the red LED will flash rapidly, and the alarm will emit a loud, continuous siren (over 85 dB at 10 ft).
  • Carbon Monoxide (CO) Alarm: If dangerous levels of CO are detected, the red LED will flash, and the alarm will sound with a distinct pattern. The LCD will display the detected CO concentration in PPM.
  • Low Battery Warning: When the battery is low, the yellow LED will flash, and the unit will chirp periodically. Replace the battery immediately.
  • Fault Indication: If a fault is detected, the yellow LED will flash, and the unit may chirp or display an error code on the LCD. Refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Maintenance

  • Regular Testing: Test your detector weekly by pressing the Test/Silence button. This ensures the sensors and alarm are working correctly.
  • Cleaning: Dust and debris can affect the detector's performance. Gently vacuum the detector's vents and exterior once a month using a soft brush attachment. Do not use cleaning solvents or sprays.
  • Battery Replacement: The detector uses a replaceable 3-year lithium CR123A battery. When the low battery warning sounds (yellow LED flashes and chirps), replace the battery promptly. To replace, twist the detector counter-clockwise off its mounting bracket, open the battery compartment, replace the battery, and reattach the detector.
