Remote Control

The remote control allows full operation of your receiver. Insert the two AAA batteries (included) into the battery compartment. Point the remote control directly at the receiver's IR sensor or the external IR sensor.

  • Power Button: Turns the receiver on/off or into standby mode.
  • Number Buttons (0-9): For direct channel input.
  • VOL+/VOL-: Adjusts volume.
  • CH+/CH-: Changes channels.
  • OK Button: Confirms selections or displays channel list.
  • MENU Button: Accesses the main menu.
  • EXIT Button: Exits current menu or screen.
  • EPG Button: Displays the Electronic Program Guide.
  • Media Control Buttons: Play, Pause, Stop, Fast Forward, Rewind for media playback.

Setup

1. Connecting the Receiver

  1. Satellite Connection: Connect the satellite cable from your LNB (on the dish) to the "LNB IN" port on the rear panel of the receiver.
  2. HDMI Connection: Connect one end of the HDMI cable to the "HDMI" port on the receiver and the other end to an available HDMI input on your TV.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the 12V power adapter to the "DC IN" port on the receiver, then plug the adapter into a power outlet.
  4. IR Sensor (Optional): If you plan to hide the receiver, connect the external IR sensor cable to the "IR/Display" port and position the sensor where it can receive signals from the remote control.
  5. Network Connection (Wired): For internet access, connect an Ethernet cable from your router to the "LAN" port on the receiver.
  6. USB Storage (Optional): For PVR or media playback, connect a USB flash drive or external hard drive to one of the USB ports.

2. Initial Setup Wizard

Upon first power-on, the receiver will guide you through an initial setup wizard. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure basic settings.

  • Language Selection: Choose your preferred language for the menu.
  • Video Output: Select the appropriate resolution for your TV (e.g., 1080p).
  • Time Zone: Set your local time zone.
  • Satellite Configuration: Select your satellite(s) and LNB type. The receiver supports DiSEqC 1.0/1.1/1.2, USALS, and Unicable.
  • Channel Scan: Initiate a scan to find available TV and radio channels. This may take several minutes.

Operating Instructions

Basic Navigation

  • Use the CH+/CH- buttons to change channels sequentially.
  • Enter channel numbers directly using the Number Buttons.
  • Press OK to display the channel list. Use the arrow keys to navigate and OK to select.
  • Press MENU to access the main system menu.
  • Press EXIT to go back to the previous screen or exit the menu.

Electronic Program Guide (EPG)

Press the EPG button on the remote control to view program information for current and upcoming broadcasts. You can navigate through channels and times to see program details.

Media Playback (USB)

Connect a USB storage device containing media files (photos, music, videos) to a USB port. Navigate to the Media Player section in the main menu to browse and play your files.

Recording (PVR) and TimeShift

To use PVR (Personal Video Recorder) and TimeShift functions, an external USB storage device (USB flash drive or hard drive) must be connected and formatted by the receiver.

  • Recording: While watching a program, press the Record button (usually a red circle) on the remote to start recording. Press Stop (square) to end.
  • TimeShift: Press the Pause button during live TV to activate TimeShift. You can then pause, rewind, or fast-forward live television.

Internet Features

With a network connection (wired LAN), you can access various internet-based features:

  • YouTube: Access YouTube directly via the dedicated button on the remote or through the main menu.
  • Internet Radio: Listen to online radio stations.
  • OTT Content / IPTV: The receiver supports various Over-The-Top content and IPTV services. Configuration may vary depending on the service.
  • DLNA Media Player: Stream media from compatible devices on your home network.

Dual OS: E2 Linux and Define OS

The SFX6018 features a Dual OS system, offering both E2 Linux and Define OS. E2 Linux provides extensive customization options through downloadable images, plugins, and skins. Switching between operating systems or managing plugins is typically done through specific menu options or bootloader settings, which can be found in the advanced settings section of the receiver's menu.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the receiver. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Software Updates: Periodically check for software updates via the receiver's menu (System Settings > Software Update). Keeping your software updated ensures optimal performance and access to new features.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the receiver has adequate airflow around it to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.
