1. Pre-Installation Checks
Before installing the new deadlatch, it is crucial to verify the specifications of your existing lock and door to ensure compatibility. This replacement latch features a 45° rotation angle and is designed for door thicknesses between 1-3/8" to 1-3/4" (35mm-45mm).

Measure the backset of your door (distance from the door edge to the center of the bore hole). This deadlatch is adjustable for 2-3/8" (60mm) or 2-3/4" (70mm) backsets. Also, confirm the square hole size is 7.6mm.

3. Installation Steps
- Remove Old Latch: If replacing an existing latch, remove the screws securing the old latch faceplate and carefully pull the latch mechanism out of the door edge.
- Insert New Latch: Slide the adjusted LOQRON deadlatch into the bore hole in the door edge, ensuring the latch bolt faces the correct direction (beveled edge towards the door frame).
- Secure Latch: Align the faceplate with the screw holes on the door edge and secure it with the provided mounting screws. Do not overtighten.
- Install Strike Plate and Dust Box: Install the dust box into the door frame bore hole, then align the strike plate over it and secure with the remaining screws. Ensure the latch bolt can smoothly enter and exit the strike plate.
- Test Operation: Once installed, test the latch by closing the door and operating the door handle/knob to ensure smooth retraction and extension of the latch bolt.

Operation
The LOQRON Adjustable Deadlatch functions as a standard spring latch mechanism for keyed entry door handles or knobs. When the door is closed, the latch bolt extends into the strike plate, securing the door. Turning the door handle or knob retracts the latch bolt, allowing the door to open. The 45° rotation angle ensures smooth and responsive operation with compatible locksets.
Maintenance
The LOQRON deadlatch is constructed from durable 201 stainless steel, designed for long-lasting performance with minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exposed parts of the latch with a soft, damp cloth to remove dust and grime. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Lubrication: If the latch mechanism begins to feel stiff or sticky, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts of the latch bolt. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and debris.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the latch and strike plate for any signs of wear or damage. Ensure all screws are tight.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Latch bolt does not retract smoothly or sticks. | Lack of lubrication, debris in mechanism, misaligned strike plate. | Clean and lubricate the latch bolt. Check strike plate alignment and adjust if necessary. Ensure no debris is obstructing the mechanism. |
| Latch bolt does not fully extend or engage the strike plate. | Incorrect backset adjustment, misaligned strike plate, worn spring. | Verify the backset is correctly set to 2-3/8" or 2-3/4". Adjust strike plate position. If the spring is worn, the latch may need replacement. |
| Latch feels loose in the door. | Loose mounting screws. | Tighten the mounting screws on the latch faceplate. Do not overtighten. |
| Latch does not fit the door. | Incompatible dimensions or rotation angle. | Re-check door thickness, backset, and original latch rotation angle against the product specifications. This latch is 45° rotation only. |
