4. Product Features

  • 100Mbps Bridge: Equipped with 2x100Mbps RJ45 ports, this WiFi bridge offers network speeds up to 100Mbps and a transmission rate of up to 300Mbps between bridges. It supports point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and WDS modes with automatic networking.
  • Up to 3KM Range: High-gain 14 dBi integrated directional antennas extend networks up to 3 KM. Actual transmission distance may vary based on environmental factors (no barriers recommended for optimal performance).
  • Plug and Play: The CPE402, powered by a 24V PoE adapter (included), allows dial pairing without needing a graphical user interface (GUI). Pre-configured bridges automatically pair upon connecting the PoE power, simplifying network extension or monitoring.
  • Building-to-Building Network Extension: Extend your network from a main building to a garage, barn, store, warehouse, or farm.
  • 5.8G Technology & IP65 Waterproof: Utilizes 5.8G IEEE 802.11ac for superior interference resistance compared to 2.4G CPEs. The p2p wireless bridge is IP65-certified, ensuring protection against water, dust, cold, and heat.

5. Setup Guide

5.1. Initial Setup and Unboxing

Before physical installation, it is recommended to perform an initial setup and configuration indoors to ensure both units are functioning correctly and paired. This allows for easier troubleshooting and verification of settings.

Video: This video provides a detailed unboxing and setup guideline for the ULNA CPE412 (similar to CPE402) Wireless Bridge, demonstrating how to connect and configure the devices.

5.2. Physical Installation

The wireless bridge units should be mounted in a location that provides a clear line of sight between the master and slave units. Obstructions like trees or buildings can significantly degrade performance. Use the provided mounting straps to secure the units to poles or other suitable structures.

5.3. Powering On

Connect one end of an Ethernet cable to the PoE port on the wireless bridge unit and the other end to the PoE port of the 24V PoE adapter. Plug the PoE adapter into a power outlet. The unit will power on, and indicator lights will illuminate.

5.4. Configuration (Dial Pairing)

The CPE402 supports simple dial pairing. One unit should be set as the 'Master' (A) and the other as the 'Slave' (B). Use the A-B button on each unit to select the desired mode. Ensure both units are on the same channel for successful pairing. The units are pre-configured to automatically pair once powered on and set to the correct modes.

5.5. Advanced Configuration (Web Interface)

For advanced settings, connect your computer directly to the LAN port of the PoE adapter (connected to the wireless bridge). You may need to temporarily change your computer's IP address to be on the same network segment as the bridge (e.g., 192.168.255.X). Access the web interface by typing the bridge's IP address (e.g., 192.168.255.101 for Master, 192.168.255.201 for Slave) into your browser. The default username is 'admin' and the default password is 'admin'.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1. Point-to-Point Connection

In a point-to-point setup, one CPE402 unit acts as the master (transmitter) and the other as the slave (receiver). The master unit connects to your existing network (e.g., router), and the slave unit provides network access at the remote location. Ensure both units are facing each other directly for optimal signal strength.

6.2. Point-to-Multipoint Connection

The CPE402 can also be configured for point-to-multipoint scenarios, where one master unit communicates with multiple slave units. This is useful for covering a wider area or connecting several remote locations to a central network. The antenna has a 60-degree transmission angle, so slave units should be within this angle relative to the master.

6.3. Network Extension Applications

The ULNA Wireless Bridge is suitable for various applications, including:

  • Extending home WiFi to outbuildings like garages, barns, or workshops.
  • Providing network connectivity for outdoor IP cameras and surveillance systems.
  • Creating a wireless link between two buildings for shared internet access.

7. Maintenance

The ULNA CPE402 is designed for outdoor use with an IP65 waterproof rating, providing protection against dust and water. It also features lightning protection and resistance to extreme temperatures.

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check the physical condition of the units, cables, and mounting hardware for any signs of wear, damage, or loose connections.
  • Cleaning: Gently clean the exterior of the units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Firmware Updates: Check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates to ensure optimal performance and security. Follow the provided instructions for updating firmware.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1. No Connection/Poor Signal

  • Line of Sight: Ensure there is a clear, unobstructed line of sight between the master and slave units. Even a few trees can impact performance.
  • Mounting Height: Mount the units as high as possible to clear obstacles and minimize interference.
  • Alignment: Precisely align the units towards each other. The directional antennas require accurate aiming.
  • Indicator Lights: Check the WLAN signal strength indicators on the side of the units. More illuminated LEDs indicate a stronger signal.

8.2. IP Address Configuration Issues

  • Computer IP: When accessing the web interface, ensure your computer's IP address is on the same network segment as the bridge (e.g., if the bridge is 192.168.255.101, set your computer to 192.168.255.X, where X is not 101 or 201).
  • Default IPs: Remember the default IP addresses for Master (192.168.255.101) and Slave (192.168.255.201).

8.3. Device Not Powering On

  • PoE Connection: Verify that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the PoE port on both the bridge unit and the PoE adapter.
  • Power Outlet: Ensure the PoE adapter is plugged into a working power outlet.
