5. Setup

5.1. Power Supply

The Khadas Edge2 requires a 12V 24-30W USB-C power supply. Using an underpowered or incompatible power supply may lead to instability or prevent the device from booting correctly, especially when connecting multiple peripherals.

5.2. Connecting Peripherals

  1. Display: Connect your monitor to the HDMI port or USB-C port. The Edge2 also supports DSI displays via FPC connectors.
  2. Input Devices: Connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the available USB ports.
  3. Network: For wireless connectivity, ensure the included antennas are properly connected.
  4. Power: Connect the recommended 12V USB-C power supply to the USB-C power input port.

5.3. Operating System Installation (OOWOW)

The Edge2 features a built-in OOWOW system for easy operating system installation. Follow these general steps:

  1. Connect the Edge2 to a display and power it on.
  2. The OOWOW interface should appear, allowing you to select and install various operating systems (e.g., Android, Ubuntu).
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the OS installation.

For detailed instructions, refer to the official Khadas documentation available online.

6. Operating

6.1. Display Configuration

The Edge2 supports multiple display outputs, including HDMI, USB-C, and two DSI interfaces. While the hardware supports up to four independent displays, the actual number of usable independent displays may be limited by the installed operating system and its drivers.

6.2. Wireless Connectivity

The integrated AP6275P Wi-Fi 6 module provides stable and fast wireless data transmission, supporting IEEE 802.11ax/ac/a/b/g/n standards. Bluetooth 5.0 is also available for connecting wireless peripherals.

7. Maintenance

7.1. General Care

  • Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Ensure proper airflow around the device to prevent heat buildup.

7.2. Cooling

For sustained high-performance operation, especially in demanding applications, a heatsink or active cooling solution may be necessary. The Edge2 is compatible with optional cooling kits to manage thermal output effectively.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Device Not Powering On: Verify that you are using a 12V 24-30W USB-C power supply. Inadequate power can prevent the board from starting or supporting connected peripherals.
  • OOWOW Freezes on Boot: If the OOWOW splash screen freezes, try re-flashing the OOWOW image from a reliable source or using a different USB stick if booting externally. Ensure the power supply is stable.
  • Peripherals Not Detected: Check all cable connections. Ensure the power supply is sufficient if multiple power-hungry peripherals are connected. Update the operating system and drivers if necessary.
  • Display Issues: Confirm the display cable is securely connected. Test with a different display or cable if possible. Ensure the OS is configured for the correct display output.
  • Wi-Fi/Bluetooth Connectivity Problems: Ensure antennas are properly attached. Check OS settings for wireless network configuration and Bluetooth device pairing.
