Your guide to safe and effective operation

Introduction and Safety Information

Thank you for choosing the Caydo 50W LED UV Exposure Unit. This manual provides essential information for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your device. Please read all instructions carefully before use to ensure safety and optimal performance.

Important Safety Warnings:

  • UV Light Exposure: The unit emits UV light. Avoid direct eye and skin exposure to the UV light. Always wear appropriate UV protective eyewear and clothing during operation.
  • Electrical Safety: This unit operates at 120V. Ensure your power outlet matches this voltage. The unit features a 3-prong grounded plug design for safety, reducing electric shock risk. Do not modify the plug or use ungrounded adapters.
  • Usage Limitation: To prevent overheating and ensure longevity, limit continuous operation to no more than 15 minutes at a time. After 15 minutes of use, turn off the unit and allow it to cool for at least 30 seconds before resuming operation.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit during operation.
  • Children and Pets: Keep the unit out of reach of children and pets.

2. Assembling the Stand:

  • Attach the base to the main vertical pole of the stand. Ensure it is securely fastened. The textured base (weight 730.5g, size 25 x 15 cm) provides stability.
  • Connect the adjustable arm to the vertical pole.
  • Mount the UV exposure light unit to the adjustable arm. Use the provided fasteners to secure it firmly.

3. Connecting Power:

  • Plug the 3-prong power cord into a compatible 120V grounded electrical outlet.
  • The power cord includes an in-line ON/OFF switch for convenient control.

Operating Instructions

This section details how to use your UV exposure unit for screen printing and cyanotype applications.

1. Adjusting Height and Angle:

  • Loosen the adjustment knobs on the stand to modify the height and angle of the UV light unit.
  • Position the light unit directly above your screen or cyanotype material.
  • Tighten the knobs to secure the light unit in the desired position. Different heights will affect exposure times.

2. Exposure Process:

  • Place your prepared screen (with emulsion) or cyanotype material under the UV light unit.
  • Ensure you are wearing UV protective eyewear before turning on the light.
  • Flip the ON/OFF switch on the power cord to activate the UV light. The 50W UV light has a wavelength of 395nm.
  • Exposure Time: The typical exposure time for photosensitive emulsion is approximately 3 to 5 minutes. This duration can vary based on the emulsion thickness, the distance of the light from the material, and environmental factors. Conduct test exposures to determine the optimal time for your specific materials and setup.
  • After the desired exposure time, turn off the UV light using the switch.
  • Adhere to the 15-minute continuous use limit and 30-second cool-down period.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your UV exposure unit.

1. Cleaning:

  • Always unplug the unit from the power source before cleaning.
  • Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior of the light unit and stand.
  • For the light panel, use a soft, lint-free cloth. If necessary, slightly dampen the cloth with water or a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the LED beads or housing.
  • Ensure the unit is completely dry before plugging it back in or storing it.

2. Storage:

  • Store the unit in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive dust.
  • If storing for extended periods, consider disassembling the stand and packing the components in their original packaging or a protective case.

3. Heat Management:

The unit is designed with efficient heat management to prevent overheating. The PC lampshade material can withstand temperatures up to 150°C. Always adhere to the recommended usage limits (15 minutes on, 30 seconds off) to allow for proper cooling and maintain optimal performance.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Caydo 50W LED UV Exposure Unit, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Unit does not turn on.No power supply; loose connection; faulty switch.Check if the power cord is securely plugged into a live outlet. Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position. Test the outlet with another device.
Uneven exposure or poor curing.Incorrect light distance; insufficient exposure time; uneven emulsion application.Adjust the light unit's height to ensure even coverage. Increase exposure time. Ensure emulsion is applied uniformly. Conduct test exposures to fine-tune settings.
Unit turns off unexpectedly.Overheating due to prolonged use. This is a safety feature. Allow the unit to cool down for at least 30 seconds after 15 minutes of continuous use. Ensure proper ventilation.
Light output seems weak.Dust or debris on the light panel; aging LEDs (unlikely for new unit).Clean the light panel as described in the Maintenance section. If the issue persists, contact customer support.
