Components

  • Remote Transmitter: Used to send commands to the receiver collar. Features buttons for tone, vibration, and static stimulation.
  • Receiver Collar: Worn by the dog, receives signals from the remote and delivers the chosen stimulation.
  • Adjustable Nylon Collar: Durable strap for securing the receiver to the dog's neck.
  • Charging Cable: Dual charging cable for simultaneous charging of the remote and receiver.
  • Contact Points: Short and long metal contact points for different coat lengths, along with silicone covers for added comfort and protection.

2. Setup and Preparation

2.1 Initial Charging

Before first use, fully charge both the remote transmitter and the receiver collar. A full charge typically takes approximately 2 hours and provides 40-60 days of training sessions, depending on usage.

  • Connect the dual charging cable to the charging ports on both the remote and receiver.
  • Plug the USB end of the cable into a compatible USB power source (e.g., computer, power bank, car charger).
  • Indicator lights will show charging status and turn solid when fully charged.

2.2 Collar Fitting

Proper fit of the receiver collar is crucial for effective and humane operation. The collar should be snug enough to allow the contact points to touch the dog's skin, but not so tight as to restrict breathing or cause discomfort.

  • Ensure the dog's neck is clean and dry.
  • Place the receiver collar on your dog's neck, with the receiver unit positioned centrally under the chin or on the side of the neck.
  • Adjust the nylon strap so that you can fit one finger snugly between the strap and your dog's neck.
  • For dogs with thick coats, you may need to trim some fur around the contact points to ensure direct skin contact.
  • The adjustable nylon collar fits dogs with neck sizes 7" - 27" and is suitable for dogs weighing 8 lbs - 100 lbs. Excess strap can be cut off if needed.

2.3 Pairing the Remote and Receiver

The remote and receiver are typically pre-paired from the factory. If re-pairing is needed or for multi-dog training:

  1. Turn on the remote transmitter using the side On/Off button.
  2. Turn on the receiver collar by pressing its On/Off button.
  3. On the remote, select the desired dog channel (1 or 2) using the channel selection switch on the side.
  4. Press and hold the On/Off button on the receiver collar until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
  5. While the receiver light is flashing, press any training mode button (Tone, Vibration, or Static) on the remote. The receiver light will become solid if pairing is successful.

3.2 Training Modes

The collar offers three safe and effective training modes:

  • Tone Mode: A simple audible cue, often used for positive reinforcement or as a warning before other stimulations.
  • Vibration Mode: A gentle vibration, useful for gaining attention or as a mild correction.
  • Static Stimulation Mode: Adjustable static pulse for more firm corrections. Start at the lowest level and gradually increase until your dog responds.

4. Maintenance and Care

4.1 Cleaning

  • Regularly clean the receiver collar and contact points with a damp cloth to prevent dirt buildup and ensure proper skin contact.
  • Ensure the charging port cover is securely closed to maintain waterproofing.

4.2 Waterproofing

The receiver collar features IPX7 waterproof technology, meaning it can withstand immersion in water up to 3.2 feet (1 meter) for 30 minutes. This allows for training in various weather conditions and environments, including around water.

The remote control is not fully waterproof; avoid submerging it in water. It is designed to withstand light rain.

4.3 Battery Life

The collar and remote are designed for long battery life, supporting 40-60 days of training sessions on a single 2-hour charge. Recharge when the battery indicator shows low power.

5. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your PATPET training collar, refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Collar Not Responding:
    • Ensure both the remote and receiver are fully charged and powered on.
    • Verify that the remote and receiver are properly paired to the correct channel.
    • Check the receiver's On/Off switch. Some users have reported that the internal switch can be inadvertently turned off if pressure is applied to the unit while on the dog's neck.
    • Confirm that the contact points are making proper contact with the dog's skin. Adjust collar tightness or use longer contact points if necessary.
  • Reduced Range:
    • Obstacles such as buildings, trees, or uneven terrain can reduce the effective range. Try training in an open area.
    • Ensure both devices are fully charged.
  • Static Stimulation Not Felt:
    • Increase the static level on the remote.
    • Ensure contact points are firmly touching the dog's skin. Consider using the longer contact points or trimming fur.
    • Important: Before using static stimulation on your dog, it is recommended to test the static level on your own hand or leg to understand the sensation.
