Introduction
Welcome to the Monopoly Japan Edition! This popular board game allows players to buy, sell, and trade properties across Japan, aiming to become the wealthiest player. This manual provides instructions for setup, gameplay, and understanding the game's components.
Game Components
The Monopoly Japan Edition includes the following items:

- 6 Game pieces (tokens)
- 28 Title Deed cards

Setup
- Place the game board on a flat surface.
- Separate the Chance cards and Community Chest cards, shuffle each deck, and place them face down on their designated spaces on the board.
- Each player chooses a game piece and places it on the "GO" space.
- Each player receives a starting amount of ¥1500 from the bank, consisting of: 5 x ¥1, 1 x ¥5, 2 x ¥10, 1 x ¥20, 1 x ¥50, 4 x ¥100, 2 x ¥500.
- Choose a Banker. The Banker is responsible for the bank's money, properties, houses, and hotels. The Banker can also play, but must keep their personal money separate from the bank's.
- Each player rolls the dice. The player with the highest roll goes first. Play proceeds clockwise.
Gameplay
Player Turn
On your turn, roll both dice and move your game piece clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated by the dice. The space you land on determines your action.
Landing on a Property
If you land on an unowned property (land or airport), you may buy it from the bank for the price indicated on the board. If you choose not to buy it, the property is auctioned off to the highest bidder.
If you land on a property owned by another player, you must pay them rent. The rent amount is listed on the property's Title Deed card.
Building Houses and Hotels
Once you own all properties of a color group, you can begin building houses. You must build evenly across the properties in the group. After building four houses on a property, you can upgrade them to a hotel.
Negotiation and Trading
Players can negotiate and trade properties, money, or "Get Out of Jail Free" cards with each other at any time. The value of trades is determined by the players involved.
Winning the Game
The goal of Monopoly is to be the last player remaining after all other players have gone bankrupt.
Special Board Spaces
GO
When you pass or land on "GO", collect ¥200 from the bank.
Jail
If you land on "Go to Jail", you immediately move to the Jail space and your turn ends. You do not collect ¥200 for passing "GO". To get out of Jail, you can pay a fine of ¥50, use a "Get Out of Jail Free" card, or roll doubles on your next three turns.
Free Parking
This is a safe space. No money is collected or paid when landing here.
Income Tax / Luxury Tax
If you land on these spaces, you must pay the specified amount to the bank.
