Setup and Initial Use
- Battery Installation: Open the battery cover (V) by releasing the latches (W). Insert the required batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the cover securely.
- Power On: Rotate the Rotary Selector Dial (G) from the "OFF" position to any desired measurement function (e.g., V~ for AC Volts, A~ for AC Current). The display (Q) will illuminate.
- Connecting Test Leads: For voltage, resistance, capacitance, or diode measurements, insert the test leads into the appropriate Test Lead Input Jacks (K). Ensure the leads are fully inserted and secured by the Input Jack Lock (T).
- Connecting Temperature Probe: For temperature measurements, connect the K-Type thermocouple to the K-Type Temperature Probe Inputs (S).
Operating Instructions
Measuring AC Current (Clamp Function):
- Rotate the Rotary Selector Dial (G) to the "A~" position.
- Press the Clamp Lever (F) to open the Clamp (A).
- Place the single conductor wire to be measured within the clamp jaw, ensuring it aligns with the Conductor Alignment Marks (B).
- Release the Clamp Lever (F) to close the jaw around the conductor.
- Read the AC current value on the Display (Q).
Measuring Voltage (AC/DC):
- Connect the test leads to the appropriate Test Lead Input Jacks (K).
- Rotate the Rotary Selector Dial (G) to the "V~" (AC Volts) or "V-" (DC Volts) position. Use the SELECT button (I) to toggle if needed.
- Touch the test probes to the circuit points where voltage is to be measured.
- Read the voltage value on the Display (Q).
Measuring Temperature:
- Connect the K-Type thermocouple to the K-Type Temperature Probe Inputs (S).
- Rotate the Rotary Selector Dial (G) to the "Temp" position.
- Place the thermocouple tip on or near the object whose temperature is to be measured.
- Read the temperature value on the Display (Q).
Using Hold/Backlight and Min/Max Functions:
- Hold: Press the Hold/Backlight Button (O) briefly to freeze the current reading on the display. Press again to release.
- Backlight: Press and hold the Hold/Backlight Button (O) to activate the display backlight for low-light conditions. Press and hold again to turn off.
- Min/Max: Press the Min/Max Button (P) to enter Min/Max recording mode. The meter will continuously record the minimum and maximum values. Press again to cycle through Min, Max, and current readings. Hold to exit.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the meter with a dry, clean cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Replacement: When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings. Refer to the "Setup and Initial Use" section for battery installation.
- Storage: Store the meter in its provided carrying pouch (Figure 2) in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
- Calibration: For optimal accuracy, periodic calibration by a qualified service center is recommended.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Meter does not power on. | Dead or incorrectly installed batteries. | Check battery polarity and replace batteries if necessary. |
| Inaccurate readings. | Low battery, incorrect function selected, or environmental interference. | Replace batteries, ensure correct function is selected on the rotary dial, move away from strong electromagnetic fields. |
| Display shows "OL" (Overload). | Input value exceeds the selected range or meter's maximum capacity. | Select a higher range using the Range Button (H) or ensure the measurement is within the meter's specifications. |
| Meter beeps excessively. | Normal operation for certain functions (e.g., continuity check) or a known characteristic for dial rotation. | This is a characteristic of the meter. There is no user interface to disable the beep function. |
