Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the PuraFlame Electric Fireplace Log Heater. This manual provides important information for the safe operation, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new electric fireplace log heater. Please read all instructions carefully before using the product and retain this manual for future reference.

Important Safety Information

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury, observe the following:

  • Read all instructions before using this heater.
  • This heater is hot when in use. To avoid burns, do not let bare skin touch hot surfaces. Keep combustible materials, such as furniture, pillows, bedding, papers, clothes, and curtains, at least 3 feet (0.9 m) from the front of the heater and keep them away from the sides and rear.
  • Extreme caution is necessary when any heater is used by or near children or invalids and whenever the heater is left operating and unattended.
  • Always unplug heater when not in use.
  • Do not operate any heater with a damaged cord or plug or after the heater malfunctions, has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return heater to authorized service facility for examination, electrical or mechanical adjustment, or repair.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Never locate heater where it may fall into a bathtub or other water container.
  • Do not run cord under carpeting. Do not cover cord with throw rugs, runners, or similar coverings. Arrange cord away from traffic area and where it will not be tripped over.
  • To disconnect heater, turn controls to off, then remove plug from outlet.
  • Do not insert or allow foreign objects to enter any ventilation or exhaust opening as this may cause an electric shock or fire, or damage the heater.
  • To prevent a possible fire, do not block air intakes or exhaust in any manner. Do not use on soft surfaces, like a bed, where openings may become blocked.
  • A heater has hot and arcing or sparking parts inside. Do not use it in areas where gasoline, paint, or flammable liquids are used or stored.
  • Use this heater only as described in this manual. Any other use not recommended by the manufacturer may cause fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Always plug heaters directly into a wall outlet/receptacle. Never use with an extension cord or relocatable power tap (outlet/power strip).
  • This heater includes an automatic overheat protection system. If the heater overheats, it will automatically shut off. To reset, unplug the heater from the electrical outlet for 5 minutes, then plug it back in.

Setup Instructions

The PuraFlame Electric Fireplace Log Heater is designed for easy setup with no complex installation required. It is suitable for freestanding use or placement within existing fireplace openings.

  1. Unpack the Unit: Carefully remove the log heater from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Placement:
    • Place the unit on a firm, level surface.
    • Ensure the unit is positioned at least 3 feet (0.9 m) away from combustible materials such as curtains, furniture, bedding, and paper.
    • If placing in an existing fireplace opening, ensure the opening dimensions are sufficient to accommodate the unit (16" W x 12.5" H x 9.4" D). No vents are required for the unit itself.
  3. Electrical Connection:
    • Ensure the power switch on the unit is in the "OFF" position.
    • Plug the power cord directly into a 120V, 60Hz grounded electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips.

Operating Instructions

The PuraFlame Electric Fireplace Log Heater offers simplified controls for flame effects and heating functions.

Control Panel:

The control panel is located on the right side of the unit (refer to Figure 2 and Figure 3 for visual reference).

  • Main Power Switch (I/O): Turns the entire unit ON or OFF.
  • Flame Effect Switch: Activates or deactivates the realistic flame and ember bed effect. This can be operated independently of the heater.
  • Heater Power Switches (750W/1500W):
    • One switch for 750W heat output.
    • A second switch for 1500W heat output. Both switches can be engaged for maximum heat.
  • Thermostat Knob: Adjusts the desired room temperature. The heater will cycle ON and OFF to maintain the set temperature.

Basic Operation:

  1. To Turn On Flame Effect: Flip the main power switch to "I" (ON), then flip the flame effect switch to "I" (ON). The realistic logs and ember bed will illuminate with dynamic flame visuals.
  2. To Turn On Heater:
    • Ensure the main power switch is "ON".
    • Select the desired heat output by flipping one or both heater power switches (750W or 1500W).
    • Adjust the thermostat knob to your preferred temperature setting. The heater will activate when the room temperature falls below the set point and deactivate when it reaches the set point.
  3. To Turn Off: Flip all switches to "O" (OFF) and then unplug the unit from the wall outlet when not in use for extended periods.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your electric fireplace log heater. Always unplug the unit before performing any maintenance.

  • Cleaning:
    • Dust the unit regularly with a soft, damp cloth.
    • Do not use abrasive cleaners or sprays on the unit.
    • Ensure the air intake and exhaust vents are free from dust and debris to maintain proper airflow.
  • Light Bulb Replacement: The flame effect uses LED technology, which typically does not require bulb replacement. If the flame effect malfunctions, contact customer service.
  • Storage: If storing the unit for an extended period, unplug it and store it in a dry, cool location, preferably in its original packaging.

Troubleshooting
