Setup and Installation
Installing your Kwikset SmartCode 270 is designed to be simple and can be completed with just a screwdriver. For detailed, step-by-step 3D interactive instructions with voice, text, and animation guidance, it is highly recommended to use the BILT app.
General Installation Steps:
- Prepare the Door: Ensure your door is properly drilled and aligned for a standard deadbolt.
- Install the Latch: Insert the adjustable latch into the door edge and secure it with screws.
- Install the Exterior Assembly: Place the exterior keypad assembly onto the door, ensuring the cable passes through the cross bore.
- Install the Mounting Plate: Secure the interior mounting plate to the exterior assembly with screws.
- Install the Interior Assembly: Connect the cable from the exterior assembly to the interior assembly. Secure the interior assembly to the mounting plate.
- Install Batteries: Insert 4 AA alkaline batteries (not included) into the battery pack.
- Perform Door Handing Process: Follow the instructions in the BILT app or included guide to calibrate the lock to your door's orientation.
Operating Instructions
Keyless Entry
To unlock the door using the touchpad, simply tap the light-up touchpad to activate it, then enter your custom user code. The lock will disengage, allowing you to open the door. To lock the door, press the dedicated lock button on the keypad.

Auto-Lock Feature
For added security and peace of mind, the SmartCode 270 can be customized to automatically lock after a set period. You can configure the auto-lock to engage every 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, or 10 minutes after the door is unlocked.

Code Management
The lock allows for easy management of user codes. You can customize up to 50 unique user codes for regular access, 10 one-time user codes for temporary access (e.g., for service personnel), and 1 programming code to manage all other codes. Codes can be added, edited, or deleted as needed.

Intrusion Alert
