- Power On: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC/5V port on the matrix switch, then plug it into a power outlet. Power on your displays and source devices.
Important: Use new HDMI 2.0 AWG26 cables less than 3 meters for optimal performance, especially with 4K 60Hz signals.
6. Operating Instructions
This section details how to use the various features of your HDMI Matrix Switch.
6.1 Input/Output Switching

Image: Illustration of different methods to control the HDMI Matrix Switch, including the IR remote, front panel buttons, and an update port.
You can switch inputs for each output independently using the front panel buttons or the IR remote control.
- Front Panel Buttons: Press the "HDMI OUTPUT1" or "HDMI OUTPUT2" buttons repeatedly to cycle through the connected HDMI inputs (1-4) for the respective output.
- IR Remote Control: Use the numbered buttons (1-4) under "HDMI OUTPUT1" or "HDMI OUTPUT2" on the remote to directly select the desired input for each output.
6.2 EDID Management

Image: A detailed view of the EDID switch, showing options for 4K7.1, 4K5.1, and COPY modes.
The EDID (Extended Display Identification Data) switch on the rear panel allows you to manage how the source devices detect the display capabilities. This is crucial for ensuring compatibility and optimal audio/video formats.
- 4K7.1: Forces the EDID to report support for 4K resolution with 7.1 channel audio (e.g., Dolby Atmos, DTS:X).
- 4K5.1: Forces the EDID to report support for 4K resolution with 5.1 channel audio.
- COPY: Copies the EDID from HDMI OUT1. This is useful if you want the source to detect the exact capabilities of your primary display.
Note: Change EDID settings while the device is powered on, then restart source devices for changes to take effect.
6.3 4K to 1080P Down-Scaling

Image: A detailed view of the Scaler DIP switches, labeled 1 and 2, for controlling 4K to 1080P down-scaling for each output.
The matrix switch can down-scale a 4K source signal to 1080P for displays that do not support 4K resolution. This allows 4K and 1080P TVs to work simultaneously.
- Use the DIP switches labeled "SCALER" on the rear panel.
- Switch 1 controls down-scaling for HDMI OUT1.
- Switch 2 controls down-scaling for HDMI OUT2.
- Set the switch to "ON" (1080P) to enable down-scaling for the respective output. Set to "OFF" (PASS) to pass the original 4K signal.
Note: Down-scaling applies only to 4K to 1080P. It does not down-scale 4K HDR Dolby Vision (4K60Hz 4:2:2) or VRR signals.
6.4 Audio Return Channel (ARC) and Consumer Electronics Control (CEC)

Image: Two diagrams showing how CEC and ARC function with the HDMI Matrix Switch. The top diagram shows CEC enabling audio output to headphones or speakers from HDMI OUT1. The bottom diagram shows ARC allowing audio from the TV connected to HDMI OUT1 to be sent back to the SPDIF output.
HDMI OUT1 supports ARC and CEC functionalities. These features are mutually exclusive; only one can be active at a time.
- ARC (Audio Return Channel): Allows audio from the TV connected to HDMI OUT1 to be sent back to the matrix switch's SPDIF output. This is useful for playing TV's internal apps audio through an external sound system. Select "ARC" using the "Optical Out Select" switch.
- CEC (Consumer Electronics Control): Enables control of connected devices through a single remote. When "CEC" is selected via the "Optical Out Select" switch, audio from HDMI OUT1 can be stripped and sent to the L/R 3.5mm output.
Note: ARC is supported via the SPDIF port. This device is not compatible with Sonos ARC. Ensure your TV and connected audio devices also support ARC/CEC for these features to function.
6.5 Audio Extraction

Image: Diagram illustrating the different audio output formats: 2.1CH via HDMI, L/R OUT, SPDIF OUT; 5.1CH via HDMI, SPDIF OUT, ARC; and 7.1CH via HDMI Amplifier Dolby Atmos Soundbar. It notes that two different channels cannot be output simultaneously.
The matrix switch can extract audio from the HDMI signal and output it through dedicated audio ports.
- SPDIF/Optical Out: Provides 5.1CH digital audio, following the audio from HDMI OUT1.
- L/R OUT (3.5mm): Provides 2.1CH stereo audio, suitable for headphones or stereo speakers.
Note: The device does not support simultaneous output of ATMOS 7.1 and 5.1 audio. It is not an audio down-mixer.

- Ensure all HDMI cables are securely connected and are HDMI 2.0 compliant (AWG26, less than 3m).
- Verify the power adapter is connected and the unit is powered on.
- Check if the correct input is selected for the active output on the matrix switch.
- Try bypassing the matrix switch to confirm source and display functionality.
- Adjust EDID settings (e.g., try "COPY" mode).
- Flickering or Intermittent Signal:
- Use shorter, higher-quality HDMI 2.0 cables.
- Ensure all devices support the selected resolution and refresh rate.
- Check for interference from other electronic devices.
- ARC/CEC Not Working:
- Confirm that your TV and audio system support ARC/CEC and that these features are enabled in their settings.
- Ensure "ARC" or "CEC" is selected correctly via the "Optical Out Select" switch on the matrix.
- Note that ARC and CEC are alternative functions on this device.
- No Audio from SPDIF/L/R Out:
- Verify the audio output selection on the matrix switch (Optical Out Select).
- Ensure the source device is outputting an audio format compatible with the selected output (e.g., 5.1CH for SPDIF).
- Check the audio settings on your source device and connected audio system.
- Remote Control Not Responding:
- Remove the battery shield from the remote.
- Replace the battery if necessary.
- Ensure the IR extension cable is properly connected and positioned towards the remote.
- Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the IR receiver.
