4. Installation and Setup
The Tenda TEG1110PF-8-102W switch is designed for easy installation. Follow these steps to set up your switch:
- Placement: Place the switch on a stable, flat surface (desktop mounting) or mount it to a wall using the provided screws. Ensure adequate ventilation around the device.
- Power Connection: Connect the power adapter to the switch's power input and then plug the power cord into a standard electrical outlet. The Power LED indicator on the switch should illuminate.
- Network Connection (Uplink): Connect your router or main network device to the Gigabit Uplink Port (Port 9) using a standard Ethernet cable.
- PoE Device Connection: Connect your PoE-compatible devices (e.g., IP cameras, wireless access points) to any of the 8 PoE+ ports (Ports 1-8) using Ethernet cables. The switch will automatically detect and power these devices.
- SFP Connection (Optional): If using fiber optic connectivity, insert a compatible SFP module into the SFP slot (Port 10) and connect your fiber cable.

5. Operating Modes
The Tenda TEG1110PF-8-102W switch features a mode switch on its front panel, allowing you to select between three operating modes:
- Standard Mode: This is the default mode. In this mode, the switch operates as an unmanaged switch, and all ports (1-10) can communicate with each other freely. This mode is suitable for general networking needs.
- VLAN Mode: When VLAN mode is enabled, PoE+ ports 1-8 are isolated from each other. However, they can still communicate with the uplink port (Port 9) and SFP slot (Port 10). This mode helps to isolate broadcast storms and prevent DHCP spoofing, enhancing network security and performance for specific applications.
- Extend Mode: In Extend mode, the data and power transmission range for PoE+ ports 1-8 can be extended up to 250 meters. This is ideal for long-distance surveillance system deployments where devices are far from the switch. Note that in Extend mode, the speed for ports 1-8 will be downgraded to 10 Mbps for distances between 100m and 250m.

7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Tenda TEG1110PF-8-102W switch, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power: Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the switch and a working electrical outlet. Check the power LED on the switch.
- No Network Connectivity:
- Verify that Ethernet cables are securely plugged into both the switch and the connected devices.
- Check the Link/Act LEDs on the switch for the connected ports; they should be illuminated or blinking.
- Ensure your uplink connection (Port 9 or SFP Port 10) is active and connected to a working network device (e.g., router).
- PoE Device Not Powering On:
- Confirm that the connected device is IEEE 802.3af/at compliant.
- Check the PoE-MAX LED on the switch. If it's red, the total power budget (92W) might be exceeded. Disconnect some PoE devices or ensure the total power consumption is within limits.
- Ensure the Ethernet cable is functioning correctly and supports PoE.
- Slow Network Speed:
- Verify that all connected devices and cables support Gigabit Ethernet for optimal performance.
- If in Extend Mode, remember that speeds for ports 1-8 are reduced to 10 Mbps for distances over 100m. Switch to Standard mode if full Gigabit speed is required for shorter distances.
- Network Instability / Broadcast Storms: If experiencing network instability, consider switching to VLAN mode to isolate ports 1-8 and prevent broadcast storms.
