The timer's LED display is 2.3 inches high, providing clear visibility up to 20 meters (65 feet). It offers 5 levels of brightness adjustment for both indoor and outdoor use. The system is powered by a plug-in adapter, with an option for an external 12V rechargeable lithium battery (not included) for portable operation.

3. Setup Instructions

  1. Assemble Stands: Attach the timer unit, laser sensor, and reflector to their respective stands. Ensure they are stable.
  2. Position Components:
    • Place the timer unit in a visible location.
    • Position the laser sensor and reflector opposite each other to create a laser beam path. The effective laser distance is 0-20 meters.
    • Ensure the laser beam is unobstructed and aligned with the reflector.
  3. Connect Laser Sensor: Plug the laser sensor cable into the designated port on the timer unit. The laser sensor cable is 2 meters long.
  4. Power Connection: Connect the charger to the timer unit and plug it into an electrical outlet. The unit is designed for plug-in power.
  5. Adjust Laser Sensing Distance: A screw on the laser sensor allows for adjustment of the sensing distance. Adjust as needed for your specific environment and application.

4. Operating Instructions

The timer can be operated using the included remote control. Ensure the remote has working batteries.

4.1. Basic Functions

  • Clock: Displays time in 12-hour or 24-hour format (HH:MM:SS). Use the remote to switch between formats.
  • Count Up: Measures elapsed time in HH:MM:SS format.
  • Countdown: Counts down from a set time in HH:MM:SS format. An audible beep will sound at the end of the countdown.
  • Stopwatch: Measures time in MM:SS:msms format (minutes, seconds, milliseconds).

4.2. Laser Timing Modes

The laser timing modes are designed for precise event timing where start and end points are at the same position. The system supports up to 30 laps.

  • L1 Mode: Displays time in HH:MM:SS format. Suitable for longer duration timing.
  • L2 Mode: Displays time in MM:SS:msms format. Ideal for high-precision, fast-paced timing.
  • C1 (Laser Trigger Time): Records the time when the laser beam is broken.
  • C2 (Each Lap Time): Records the time for each individual lap.
Two time display modes: L1 (HH:MM:SS) suitable for long-lasting timing, and L2 (MM:SS:msms) for fast-paced timing precision, shown with athletes in the background.

Figure 5: Laser Timing Display Modes. This image illustrates the L1 mode (HH:MM:SS) for longer durations and the L2 mode (MM:SS:msms) for precise, fast timing, with examples of athletes in action.

The laser sensor trigger interval time is adjustable from 0-9999ms. During timing, the laser sensor can be switched off to prevent accidental triggers.

4.3. Brightness Adjustment

The LED display has 5 levels of brightness adjustment. Use the remote control to cycle through the brightness settings to suit ambient light conditions.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the timer unit, laser sensor, and reflector with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the system in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Cable Care: Avoid bending or kinking the laser sensor cable excessively to prevent damage.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your GANXIN Wired Laser Timer, consider the following:

  • No Power: Ensure the charger is properly connected to both the timer unit and a working electrical outlet. If using an external battery, verify it is charged and correctly connected.
  • Laser Not Detecting:
    • Check the alignment of the laser sensor and reflector. They must be directly facing each other.
    • Ensure there are no obstructions in the laser beam path.
    • Adjust the laser sensing distance using the screw on the sensor.
    • In bright ambient light conditions, the laser beam may be less visible or less effective. Consider using the timer in conditions where the laser is clearly detectable.
  • Remote Control Not Responding: Check the remote control batteries and ensure there is a clear line of sight to the timer unit.
  • Inaccurate Timing: Verify that the laser sensor and reflector are securely positioned and not moving during operation. Ensure the laser beam is stable.
