The Prity K1 Wood Stove has a nominal heat output of 9.5 kW and an efficiency of 77.8%, capable of heating an area of approximately 52 m². It operates using wood or coal as fuel.

2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installing or operating the stove. Failure to follow these instructions may result in property damage, personal injury, or death.

  • Professional Installation: Installation must be performed by a qualified professional and comply with all local and national building and fire safety codes.
  • Combustible Materials: Maintain minimum clearances to combustible materials.

  • Fuel: Only use recommended solid fuels (dry wood with moisture content ≤ 20%, or coal). Never use flammable liquids, trash, or treated wood.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation in the room where the stove is installed to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.
  • Supervision: Never leave the stove unattended while in operation. Keep children and pets away from the hot surfaces.
  • Hot Surfaces: The stove surfaces become very hot during operation. Use protective gloves when handling the stove or adding fuel.
  • Chimney: Ensure the chimney is clean and in good condition. Regular chimney sweeping is crucial to prevent creosote buildup and chimney fires.
  • Ash Disposal: Dispose of ashes in a metal container with a tight-fitting lid, away from combustible materials.

3. Setup and Installation

The Prity K1 Wood Stove requires assembly. It is strongly recommended that installation be carried out by a certified professional to ensure compliance with all safety standards and optimal performance.

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

  • Carefully unpack the stove and all components.
  • Inspect for any damage that may have occurred during transit. Contact your supplier immediately if any damage is found.
  • Ensure all parts listed in the packing list are present.

3.2 Placement

  • Place the stove on a non-combustible floor protector if the floor is combustible.
  • Adhere strictly to the minimum clearances to combustible materials as specified in Section 2 (Rear: 40 cm, Sides: 40 cm, Front: 80 cm).

3.3 Flue Connection

  • The stove is designed for a top flue connection.
  • The flue pipe diameter required is 130 mm.
  • Ensure all flue pipe connections are sealed properly to prevent smoke leakage.
  • The chimney system must be suitable for solid fuel appliances and meet local regulations.

4. Operation

Operating your Prity K1 Wood Stove effectively involves proper fuel selection, ignition, and air control.

4.1 Fuel

  • The Prity K1 is designed to burn dry wood (moisture content ≤ 20%) and coal.
  • Using dry, seasoned wood ensures optimal heat output and minimizes creosote buildup.
  • Avoid burning wet wood, treated wood, plastics, or household waste, as these can damage the stove, create excessive smoke, and pose health risks.

4.2 Ignition

  • Open both the front air supply damper and the smoke damper fully.
  • Place crumpled paper or natural firelighters on the cast iron grate.
  • Stack small pieces of kindling wood on top of the firelighters.
  • Light the firelighters and close the combustion chamber door once the kindling is burning steadily.
  • Gradually add larger pieces of wood as the fire establishes.

4.3 Air Control

The stove is equipped with two manual dampers for regulating combustion:

  • Front Air Supply Damper: Controls the primary air intake, which feeds oxygen to the base of the fire. Open for faster burning and higher heat, close partially for slower burning.
  • Smoke Damper: Regulates the intensity of the flames and the draft through the chimney. Adjust to achieve optimal burning and prevent excessive heat loss up the chimney.

Adjust the dampers to achieve a steady, bright flame. Too much air will cause the fuel to burn too quickly, while too little air will result in a smoldering fire, increased smoke, and creosote buildup.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Prity K1 Wood Stove.

5.1 Ash Removal

  • Remove ashes regularly from the ash pan beneath the grate. Do not allow ash to build up and touch the bottom of the grate, as this can restrict airflow and damage the grate.
  • Always ensure the stove is completely cool before removing ashes.
  • Dispose of ashes in a non-combustible metal container with a lid, and store away from any flammable materials.

5.2 Cleaning the Combustion Chamber and Glass

  • Periodically clean the interior of the combustion chamber to remove any soot or creosote buildup.
  • The ceramic glass door can be cleaned with a specialized stove glass cleaner when the stove is cold. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the glass.

5.3 Chimney Cleaning

  • The chimney and flue pipe should be inspected and cleaned at least once a year, or more frequently depending on usage and fuel type.
  • This task should be performed by a certified chimney sweep to ensure safety and compliance.

5.4 Seals and Components

  • Regularly inspect the door seals for wear and tear. Worn seals can lead to air leaks, reducing efficiency and potentially allowing smoke into the room. Replace seals as needed.
  • Check the condition of the refractory bricks inside the combustion chamber. Replace any cracked or broken bricks to maintain efficiency and protect the stove body.

6. Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Prity K1 Wood Stove.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Low heat outputWet fuel, insufficient air, poor chimney draft, excessive ash buildupUse dry fuel, open air dampers, check chimney for blockages, remove ash
Excessive smoke in roomPoor chimney draft, blocked flue, door seals worn, negative room pressureCheck chimney, clean flue, replace door seals, ensure adequate room ventilation
Fire burns too quicklyToo much air, door not sealed properlyPartially close air dampers, check and replace door seals
Glass blackens quicklyWet fuel, insufficient air, low burning temperatureUse dry fuel, ensure adequate air supply, burn at higher temperatures
