In case of a nuisance alarm (e.g., from cooking fumes), you can temporarily mute the alarm:
- Press the large central button on the smoke detector.
- The alarm will silence for approximately 10 minutes.
- The detector will automatically reset after the mute period if the smoke has cleared. If smoke is still present, the alarm will reactivate.
7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and reliability of your smoke detector.
7.1 Cleaning
Dust and debris can accumulate on the smoke detector and affect its performance. Clean your detector at least once a month:
- Gently vacuum the exterior of the detector using a soft brush attachment.
- Wipe the surface with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use cleaning agents or solvents.
- Ensure no moisture enters the detector.
7.2 Battery Life and Replacement
The Aroha Safety Pro SM11 is equipped with a sealed 10-year lithium battery. This battery is designed to last the entire lifespan of the detector and is not replaceable.
- When the battery is nearing the end of its 10-year life, the detector will emit a short chirp every 30-40 seconds, accompanied by a flashing LED. This is the low battery warning.
- Upon hearing the low battery warning, replace the entire smoke detector unit immediately.
- Do not attempt to open the unit or replace the battery yourself.
7.3 Smart Self-Test Function
The detector performs an automatic self-test every minute to verify its internal components are functioning correctly. This provides continuous assurance of its operational status.
