3. Setup

  1. Unfold the Gameboard: Place the gameboard in the center of the playing area.
  2. Separate Cards: Shuffle the "The Ton Cards" and "Lady Whistledown Cards" separately. Place them face down on their designated spaces on the gameboard.
  3. Distribute Title Deeds: Place the Title Deed cards next to their corresponding properties on the gameboard.
  4. Assign Banker: One player is chosen as the Banker. The Banker is responsible for all money, Pavilions, and Estates not yet owned by players. The Banker also plays the game as a regular player.
  5. Initial Funds: Each player receives a starting amount of cardboard coins from the Banker. Refer to the Game Guide for specific starting amounts.
  6. Choose Tokens: Each player selects one of the 6 collectible tokens and places it on the "GO" space.

4. Gameplay

The objective of the game is to become the wealthiest player by buying, renting, and trading properties, ultimately driving opponents into bankruptcy. The game proceeds in turns, with players rolling dice to move their tokens around the board.

4.1 Taking a Turn

  1. Roll the Dice: On your turn, roll both dice and move your token clockwise around the board the number of spaces indicated.
  2. Action Based on Space: The action you take depends on the space your token lands on:
    • Unowned Property: You may buy the property for the price listed on the space. If you decline, the Banker auctions it to the highest bidder.
    • Owned Property: If another player owns the property, you must pay rent to them as indicated on the Title Deed card.
    • "The Ton" or "Lady Whistledown" Space: Draw the top card from the respective deck and follow its instructions.
    • Go to Jail: Move your token directly to the "In Jail" space. Your turn ends.
    • Free Parking, Just Visiting, Go: These spaces have specific rules detailed in the Game Guide.
  3. Doubles: If you roll doubles, take your turn as usual, then roll the dice again for another turn. If you roll doubles three times in a row, you immediately go to Jail.

4.2 Building Pavilions and Estates

Once you own all properties in a color group, you can begin building Pavilions (houses) and then Estates (hotels) on those properties. This increases the rent other players must pay when landing on your properties. Building costs are listed on the Title Deed cards.

4.3 Bankruptcy and Game End

If you owe more money than you can pay, even by selling buildings or mortgaging properties, you are bankrupt and out of the game. The game ends when only one player remains, or by agreement among players after a set time limit.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your Hasbro Monopoly Bridgerton Edition game, follow these maintenance guidelines:
