4. Setup

Before first use, ensure the generator is placed on a level, stable surface outdoors, far from windows, doors, and vents. Maintain at least 5 feet (1.5 meters) of clearance on all sides.

4.1. Add Engine Oil

  1. Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
  2. Using a funnel, slowly add 10W-30 engine oil (not included) until it reaches the upper mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
  3. Replace the oil fill cap/dipstick securely.

4.2. Add Fuel (Petrol or LPG)

WARNING: Do not mix oil and petrol. Do not overfill the fuel tank.

For Petrol Operation:
  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Unscrew the fuel cap.
  3. Carefully fill the fuel tank with unleaded petrol (minimum 87 octane) up to the fill neck, leaving space for expansion.
  4. Securely replace the fuel cap.
For LPG Operation:
  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Connect the LPG hose from the regulator (included) to the LPG inlet on the generator's control panel.
  3. Connect the other end of the hose to a standard LPG cylinder.
  4. Ensure all connections are tight and check for leaks using a soapy water solution.

4.3. Grounding the Generator

For safety, always ground the generator before operation. Connect a ground wire from the generator's ground terminal to an appropriate grounding rod or approved grounding source.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Starting the Engine

  1. Ensure the generator is on a level surface and all connections are secure.
  2. Turn the fuel selector switch to the desired fuel type (Petrol or LPG).
  3. If starting cold, pull the choke lever to the 'CHOKE' position.
  4. Press the electric start button. If the engine does not start, release the button and try again after a few seconds.
  5. Once the engine starts, slowly push the choke lever to the 'RUN' position.
  6. Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads.

5.2. Connecting Electrical Loads

Once the generator is running smoothly, you can connect your electrical devices. Ensure the total wattage of connected devices does not exceed the generator's running wattage.

  • Plug your devices into the appropriate 240V AC outlets or 12V DC input.
  • Monitor the warning lights on the control panel. If the overload indicator illuminates, reduce the load immediately.
  • To engage Economy Mode, press the Economy Mode switch. This will reduce engine speed when the load is low, saving fuel and reducing noise.

5.3. Parallel Operation (Optional)

This generator is equipped with parallel ports, allowing you to connect two compatible Champion inverters for increased power output. Refer to the parallel kit's instruction manual for detailed setup procedures.

5.4. Stopping the Engine

  1. Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator.
  2. Allow the generator to run for a few minutes without load to cool down.
  3. Turn the engine switch to the 'OFF' position.
  4. If using LPG, close the valve on the LPG cylinder.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and optimal performance of your generator. Always ensure the engine is off and cool before performing any maintenance.
