Product Overview

The Yale YEC/390/DB2 Electronic Safe with Alarm offers standard security for your valuables. It features an electronic keypad for access, a mechanical override key, and an integrated 130dB alarm system to deter unauthorized access.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Open the safe door using the mechanical override key (if not already open).
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the inside of the safe door.
  3. Insert the 4 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover.

2. Initial Code Setting

  1. With the safe door open, press the internal reset button (usually a small red button on the inside of the door or near the hinge).
  2. The yellow indicator light on the keypad will illuminate.
  3. Enter your desired 3 to 8 digit PIN code on the keypad.
  4. Press the '#' or 'E' button to confirm. The yellow light will turn off, indicating the code is set.
  5. Test the new code with the door open before closing it.

3. Mounting the Safe (Optional)

For enhanced security, it is recommended to fix the safe to a wall or floor using the provided fixing bolt kit.

  1. Choose a suitable location, ensuring the mounting surface is solid and secure.
  2. Mark the drilling points through the pre-drilled holes inside the safe.
  3. Drill pilot holes into the wall or floor.
  4. Position the safe and secure it using the provided bolts and washers.
  5. Ensure the safe is firmly attached and cannot be easily removed.

Operating Instructions

1. Opening the Safe with PIN Code

  1. Enter your 3 to 8 digit PIN code on the keypad.
  2. Press the '#' or 'E' button to confirm.
  3. If the code is correct, the green indicator light will illuminate, and you will hear a beep.
  4. Within 5 seconds, turn the handle clockwise to open the safe door.

2. Opening the Safe with Mechanical Override Key

The mechanical override key provides emergency access in case of battery failure or a forgotten PIN code.

  1. Locate the keyhole cover on the keypad panel.
  2. Remove the cover.
  3. Insert the mechanical key into the keyhole and turn it counter-clockwise.
  4. Turn the handle clockwise to open the safe door.
  5. It is recommended to store the mechanical keys in a secure location away from the safe.

3. Closing and Locking the Safe

  1. Close the safe door.
  2. Turn the handle counter-clockwise until the door is securely latched.

4. Alarm Functionality

The integrated 130dB alarm will activate under the following conditions:

When activated, the alarm will sound for 1 minute. After two consecutive incorrect PIN entries, the alarm will sound for 1 minute, and the keypad will be locked for 3 minutes.

Maintenance

1. Battery Replacement

When the red LED flashes during operation, it indicates low battery power. Replace the batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.

  1. Open the safe door using your PIN or the mechanical key.
  2. Locate the battery compartment on the inside of the door.
  3. Remove the old batteries and dispose of them responsibly.
  4. Insert 4 new AA alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity.
  5. Close the battery compartment cover.

Troubleshooting
