4. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps to cook rice and steam food using your JASMINE rice cooker:

Cooking Rice:

  1. Measure Rice: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired amount of rice. One cup of uncooked rice typically yields about 2-3 cups of cooked rice. The 1.8L capacity allows for cooking up to 10 cups of uncooked rice.
  2. Rinse Rice (Optional): Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.
  3. Add Rice to Pot: Place the rinsed rice into the non-stick inner pot.
  4. Add Water: For most types of white rice, a general ratio is 1 cup of rice to 1.5-2 cups of water. Adjust according to rice type and personal preference. Use the measuring cup for accuracy. The inner pot also has water level markings.
  5. Place Inner Pot: Ensure the exterior of the inner pot is dry, then place it into the main unit.
  6. Close Lid: Place the tempered glass lid securely on the rice cooker.
  7. Start Cooking: Plug in the appliance and turn the power switch to 'I' (on). Press the "COOK" switch down. The red "COOK" indicator light will illuminate, signifying that cooking has begun.
  8. Automatic Keep-Warm: Once the rice is cooked, the appliance will automatically switch to the "WARM" function. The orange "WARM" indicator light will illuminate. It is recommended to let the rice rest for 10-15 minutes in the keep-warm mode before serving for best results.
  9. Serve: Use the provided serving spoon to fluff and serve the rice.

Steaming Food (Simultaneously with Rice or Separately):

  1. Prepare Food: Cut vegetables, fish, or other foods into appropriate sizes for steaming.
  2. Place in Steaming Basket: Arrange the food evenly in the steaming basket.
  3. Steam with Rice: If steaming simultaneously with rice, place the steaming basket on top of the inner pot after adding rice and water. Close the lid and proceed with rice cooking as described above.
  4. Separate Steaming: If steaming only, add 1-2 cups of water to the inner pot. Place the steaming basket with food on top, close the lid, and press the "COOK" switch. Monitor the food and switch to "WARM" manually or unplug when done.
  5. Check Doneness: Steaming times vary depending on the food. Check for desired tenderness before serving.
