1. Introduction
The AFWFilters Platinum 10 Air Injection System is designed for effective removal of iron, sulfur, and manganese from your water supply. This chemical-free system utilizes an oxidation process within a single tank, minimizing maintenance and ensuring a healthier, environmentally friendly water treatment solution. It addresses common water quality issues such as red staining from iron, 'rotten egg' odor from sulfur, and black slimy residue from manganese.
2. Product Overview
The Platinum 10 system operates by creating a pressurized air bubble at the top of the tank during the backwash cycle. This air oxidizes contaminants, which are then trapped by the Filox (Mang-Ox) media. The system automatically backwashes every few days to rinse away contaminants and replenish the air bubble.

5. Operating Instructions
The AFWFilters Platinum 10 system features a Fleck 2510SXT Digital Control Head for easy programming and monitoring. Proper programming ensures optimal performance and regeneration cycles.
Control Head Programming:
- Set Time of Day: Hold down either arrow key to adjust the time. Ensure 'PM' is displayed correctly.
- Access Master Programming: Push the extra cycle button to clear 'TD'. Then, push and hold the UP and DOWN arrow keys simultaneously until 'DF GAL' appears on the screen.
- Valve Type (AIO/DF1B): Push the extra cycle button to advance. The valve type should be 'AIO'. If your control head does not show 'AIO', select 'DF1B'.
- CT (Cycle Time): Advance to 'CT'. This should be 'TC'.
- NT (Number of Tanks): Advance to 'NT'. This should be '1'.
- DO (Draw Out): Advance to 'DO'. This should typically be '3' for factory settings. Depending on your media, you may need to adjust this to '2' or '1'.
- RT (Regeneration Time): Advance to 'RT'. Set this to '1:00 AM' (1 AM) or a time when water usage is minimal for at least two hours.
- Backwash Time: Advance to the backwash setting. This is typically set for '10' minutes.
- Air Draw Time: Advance to the air draw setting. This is typically set for '60' minutes. (Note: For systems without 'AIO' setting, this will appear as 'BD' for Brine Draw, but functions as Air Draw and should still be set to '60').
- Save Settings: Push the extra cycle button to save all programmed settings.

6. Maintenance
The AFWFilters Platinum 10 system is designed for low maintenance due to its chemical-free operation and automatic backwash cycles. The system automatically performs a backwash every few days, which is crucial for its performance.
Automatic Backwash Cycle:
- During the backwash cycle, the system reverses water flow to clean the Filox (Mang-Ox) media bed.
- This process flushes trapped iron, sulfur, and manganese particles out of the tank and replenishes the air bubble necessary for oxidation.
- Ensure the system is set to regenerate at a time when water usage is minimal to avoid interruptions and ensure effective cleaning.
No chemicals are required for the operation or regeneration of this system, simplifying maintenance and reducing environmental impact.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your AFWFilters Platinum 10 system, review the following common problems and solutions:
Common Issues:
- Reduced Water Flow: Check for clogged pre-filters (if installed) or ensure the bypass valve is fully open.
- Persistent Odor/Staining: Verify that the control head programming is correct, especially the air draw and backwash times. Ensure the system is regenerating regularly.
- System Not Regenerating: Check the power supply to the control head. Confirm the regeneration time (RT) is set correctly and the time of day is accurate.
- Error Codes on Display: Refer to the detailed installation manual provided with your AFWFilters kit for specific error code interpretations and solutions.
