Installation Instructions

This handleset is designed for easy installation with basic tools. A Phillips head screwdriver is typically the only tool required. Refer to the included diagram templates for precise measurements and hole placement.

  1. Prepare the Door: Ensure your door has a pre-existing hole or use the provided diagram templates to mark and drill necessary holes for the handleset and latch mechanism. This handleset fits standard door thicknesses from 1-3/8" to 1-3/4".
  2. Install the Latch Mechanism: Insert the latch mechanism into the edge of the door. Adjust the latch to fit backsets of 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" (60-70mm) as needed. Secure it with screws.
  3. Install the Exterior Handle: Position the exterior handle assembly on the door, aligning the spindle with the latch mechanism.
  4. Install the Interior Handle/Knob: Place the interior knob and back handle assembly onto the door, ensuring it aligns with the exterior handle and latch.
  5. Secure the Handleset: Use the provided screws to firmly attach the interior and exterior handle components together through the door. Ensure all screws are tightened securely but avoid over-tightening, which can strip threads.
  6. Install the Strike Plate: Mark and install the strike plate on the door frame, ensuring it aligns correctly with the latch bolt when the door is closed. Secure with screws.
  7. Test Operation: Close the door and test the handleset's operation to ensure the latch retracts smoothly and the door opens and closes without obstruction.

Note: This handleset is non-handed, meaning it can be installed on both left and right-handed doors without modification.

Operating Instructions

The SCYAN H4AB Handleset is designed for inactive or dummy doors and does not feature a locking mechanism. It functions solely as a pull handle and knob for opening and closing the door.

  • To open the door from the exterior, grasp the handle and pull.
  • To open the door from the interior, turn the knob or grasp the handle and pull.

This handleset is compatible with SCYAN smart deadbolt locks (sold separately) if you wish to add a locking feature to your door. Refer to the smart lock's manual for integration instructions.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help preserve the appearance and functionality of your handleset.

  • Cleaning: Clean the handleset periodically with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Lubrication: If the latch mechanism becomes stiff over time, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant to the moving parts. Do not use oil-based lubricants, which can attract dust and grime.
  • Tightening Screws: Periodically check all mounting screws and tighten them if they have become loose. Avoid over-tightening.
