Safety Information

WARNING: To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury to persons, observe the following:

  • Installation work and electrical wiring must be done by qualified person(s) in accordance with all applicable codes and standards, including fire-rated construction.
  • Sufficient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the flue (chimney) of fuel burning equipment to prevent back-drafting. Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society for Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.
  • When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, do not damage electrical wiring and other hidden utilities.
  • Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.
  • Always disconnect power from the unit before servicing or cleaning.

Setup and Installation

The Zephyr Cyclone AK6500CS is designed for under-cabinet mounting and ducted/vented operation. Due to its weight and electrical requirements, professional installation is highly recommended.

  • Fan Speed Control: The left slide control adjusts the blower speed. Slide it to positions 1, 2, or 3 for increasing airflow. Position 0 turns the fan off. Three speed levels allow you to control proper airflow depending on your cooking needs, from light simmering to intense grilling.
  • Lighting Control: The right slide control operates the LumiLight LED lights. Slide it to position 1 for a lower light level or position 2 for full brightness. Position 0 turns the lights off. The dual-level dimmable LEDs provide uniform light distribution.

Customizable Airflow

The range hood offers an adjustable blower with an airflow capacity of 290-600 CFM, allowing for perfect ventilation tailored to your cooking intensity.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your range hood. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

Filter-less Self-Cleaning System

Image: Overview of the Zephyr Cyclone Under-Cabinet range hood highlighting its 3 speed levels, 2 removable safety grilles, and filter-less self-cleaning system.

The centrifugal blower system is designed to work without traditional filters. It pushes air downwards and away from the center, separating cooking vapors and grease. Remaining contaminants are trapped in a residue tray, which drains into residue cups during the cleaning process. This system ensures effective, quiet operation and easy cleanup.

Cleaning Removable Safety Grilles

The hood is equipped with 2 removable safety grilles. These high-quality grilles enhance protection during use and contribute to the overall aesthetic. They can be removed for cleaning to maintain hygiene and airflow efficiency.

  • To remove, carefully disengage the grilles according to the diagrams in the full installation guide.
  • Clean the grilles with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before reinstallation.

Exterior Cleaning

Clean the stainless steel exterior regularly with a soft cloth and a non-abrasive stainless steel cleaner. Always wipe in the direction of the grain to prevent scratching.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your range hood, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

  • No Power: Check the circuit breaker or fuse box. Ensure the unit is properly connected to the electrical supply.
  • Fan Not Operating: Verify the fan speed control is not in the '0' position. Check for any obstructions in the blower area.
  • Lights Not Working: Ensure the light control is not in the '0' position. If individual LEDs are out, they may require replacement by a qualified technician.
  • Poor Suction: Ensure the ductwork is clear and unobstructed. Check that the hood is installed at the recommended mounting height. Clean the residue tray and cups.
  • Excessive Noise: Check for loose components or obstructions in the blower. Ensure the unit is securely mounted.
