4. Setup
4.1 Installation
Professional installation is highly recommended to ensure proper functionality and security. Refer to the included installation template and hardware for precise fitting and door preparation. Ensure the door thickness is between 35-60 mm.
4.2 Initial Configuration
- Power Supply: Insert 4 AA batteries into the internal lock body. The lock also supports Micro USB for emergency power.
- App Download: Download the 'Hafele Smart Living App' from your device's app store (available on Android and iOS).
- Device Pairing: Follow the in-app instructions to pair the lock with your mobile device via Wi-Fi.
- Administrator Setup: Configure the initial administrator fingerprint, password, and RFID card as guided by the app or voice prompts.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Accessing the Lock
- Fingerprint: Place your registered finger flat on the fingerprint sensor until the lock unlocks.
- Keypad/Password: Enter your registered numeric password followed by the '#' key.
- RFID Card: Present your registered RFID card to the designated card reader area on the lock.
- Mobile Application: Open the Hafele Smart Living App and select the unlock function for your device.
- Mechanical Key: Insert the mechanical key into the hidden keyhole and turn to unlock in emergency situations.
5.2 Types of Passwords
- Permanent Password: Standard passwords used by regular occupants for continuous access.
- Period Password: Time-limited passwords generated for guests, valid for a specified duration (e.g., hours or days).
- Dynamic Password: One-time use passwords valid for a very short period (e.g., 5 minutes), ideal for temporary access by delivery personnel or service providers.
5.3 Locking Modes
- Auto Locking Mode: The lock automatically engages the deadbolt approximately 2 seconds after the door is closed.
- Passage Mode: This mode keeps the door unlocked, allowing free entry and exit without requiring credentials. It can be activated or deactivated via the mobile app or specific keypad sequence.
- Privacy Locking Mode: When activated from the inside, this mode disables all external access methods, ensuring complete privacy. Entry is only possible from the inside by twisting the internal knob.

6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the lock surface with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish and electronic components.
- Battery Replacement: Monitor battery levels through the app or lock indicators. Replace all 4 AA batteries simultaneously when low to ensure optimal performance.
- Sensor Care: Keep the fingerprint sensor and keypad clean and free from dirt, dust, or moisture to ensure accurate recognition.
- Mechanical Keys: Store mechanical keys in a secure, easily accessible location outside the property for emergency use.
7. Troubleshooting
- Lock Not Responding: Check if the batteries are depleted. Replace them if necessary. If the issue persists, use the mechanical key for access and contact support.
- Fingerprint Not Recognized: Ensure your finger is clean and dry. Try different angles or re-register your fingerprint if recognition remains inconsistent.
- App Connectivity Issues: Verify your home Wi-Fi network is active and the lock is within range. Restart the Hafele Smart Living App and, if needed, the lock itself.
- Smart Freeze Activated: If the lock is unresponsive after multiple incorrect entries, the Smart Freeze feature is active. Wait for approximately 5 minutes before attempting access again.
- Locking Mechanism Stuck: Do not force the handle or mechanism. This could cause damage. Contact customer support for assistance.
