1. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating the DC HOUSE 42-Series Brushless Motor Water Transfer Pump. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, serious injury, or property damage.
- Electrical Safety: Ensure the power source matches the pump's voltage (110V AC). Always connect the pump to a grounded outlet. Do not operate the pump with a damaged power cord or plug. Keep all electrical connections dry.
- Water Safety: Do not pump flammable liquids. Do not submerge the pump. Ensure proper ventilation around the pump to prevent overheating.
- Installation: Install the pump in a dry, well-ventilated area, protected from direct sunlight and freezing temperatures. Use appropriate fittings and sealants to prevent leaks.
- Operation: Do not run the pump dry for extended periods, although it is designed to withstand dry running without damage, prolonged dry operation is not recommended. Always ensure the inlet is submerged in water during operation.
- Maintenance: Disconnect power before performing any maintenance or cleaning.

3. Setup & Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your pump. Follow these steps carefully.
3.1 Choosing a Location
- Select a dry, well-ventilated area that is protected from freezing temperatures and direct sunlight.
- Ensure the pump is placed on a stable, level surface. The rubber base provides anti-vibration and low noise operation.
- Position the pump as close to the water source as possible to minimize suction lift.
3.2 Connecting the Plumbing
The pump features 1/2" NPT pipe threads. Use the appropriate adapters (Hose Adapter, Garden Hose Adapter, 1/2" Threaded Adapter) for your specific plumbing system.
- Inlet Connection: Connect the water source to the pump's inlet. It is highly recommended to install the included 50-mesh stainless steel strainer on the suction side (inlet) of the pump to filter out impurities.
- Outlet Connection: Connect your desired water distribution system (e.g., garden hose, faucet) to the pump's outlet.
- Sealing Connections: Apply PTFE (Teflon) tape to all threaded connections to ensure a watertight seal and prevent leaks. Wrap the tape clockwise around the threads, ensuring it does not enter the pump.
- Hose Management: If using hoses, ensure they are not kinked or excessively twisted, especially on the inlet side, to maintain proper flow and prevent strain on connections.

Image 3.2.2: Visual guide for the strainer installation, pressure switch adjustment, bypass switch function, and general installation tips. Ensure all connections are tight and no air is present.
3.3 Electrical Connection
Connect the pump's power plug to a standard 110V AC wall outlet. Ensure the outlet is grounded and protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) for added safety.
4. Operating Instructions
The DC HOUSE pump is designed for user-friendly operation with its on-demand pressure switch.
4.1 Initial Start-up and Priming
- Ensure all plumbing connections are secure and the pump's inlet is submerged in water.
- Open a faucet or outlet connected to the pump to allow air to escape the system.
- Plug in the pump. The pump will begin to self-prime. It may take a few moments for water to flow steadily and for all air to be expelled.
- Once water flows smoothly and consistently, close the faucet. The pump will build pressure and then shut off automatically.
4.2 On-Demand Operation
The pump operates automatically based on water demand:
- When a faucet or water outlet is opened, the pressure in the system drops, and the pump automatically turns on to supply water.
- When the faucet or water outlet is closed, the pressure in the system increases, and the pump automatically turns off.
4.3 Adjusting Pressure Switch (Optional)
The factory default pressure setting is 55 PSI. The adjustment range is 17-60 PSI.
- To increase the pressure, turn the hex bolt on the pressure switch clockwise.
- To decrease the pressure, turn the hex bolt on the pressure switch counter-clockwise.
- Adjust gradually and test the pressure after each adjustment.

4.4 Bypass Switch Function
The bypass switch reduces pump cycling when the water flow is low, which helps to reduce wear on the pressure switch and ensures smoother operation.
5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your DC HOUSE pump.
- Strainer Cleaning: Periodically inspect and clean the 50-mesh stainless steel strainer installed on the inlet. Debris can reduce flow and damage the pump. Disconnect power, unscrew the strainer housing, remove the screen, rinse it thoroughly, and reassemble.
- Winterization: If the pump is used in an environment where temperatures may drop below freezing, it must be drained and stored in a warm place to prevent damage from freezing water.
- General Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the pump clean and free from dirt and debris. Use a mild soap and water solution if necessary.
- Connection Checks: Periodically check all plumbing connections for leaks and tighten if necessary.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your water transfer pump.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pump does not turn on | No power; Clogged inlet/outlet; Faulty pressure switch. | Check power connection and outlet; Clear any blockages; Contact customer support if pressure switch is suspected faulty. |
| Pump runs but no water flows | Air in the system; Inlet not submerged; Clogged strainer/hose. | Ensure inlet is fully submerged; Open a faucet to bleed air; Clean the strainer and check hoses for kinks. |
| Low flow or low pressure | Clogged strainer; Kinked hose; Air leak in suction line; Pressure switch set too low. | Clean strainer; Straighten hoses; Check all inlet connections for air leaks; Adjust pressure switch clockwise. |
| Pump cycles on and off rapidly | Small leak in system; Pressure switch sensitivity; Bypass switch issue. | Check all connections for leaks; Ensure no faucets are dripping; The bypass switch is designed to reduce this, but if persistent, contact support. |
| Water leaks from pump connections | Loose fittings; Insufficient thread sealant. | Tighten all connections; Reapply PTFE (Teflon) tape to threaded fittings. |
| Pump runs continuously and does not shut off | Open faucet/leak in system; Pressure switch malfunction. | Close all faucets and check for leaks; If no leaks, the pressure switch may be faulty and require replacement. |
