3. Safety Information and Warnings
WARNING: This alarm should be installed by a competent person.
ALARMS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS A SUBSTITUTE FOR PROPER INSTALLATION, USE AND MAINTENANCE OF FUEL BURNING APPLIANCES INCLUDING APPROPRIATE VENTILATION AND EXHAUST SYSTEMS.
To prevent injury, this device should be securely attached to the ceiling or wall in accordance with the installation instructions.
Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat such as direct sunlight, fire, etc.
Locations to Avoid:
- Near large metal surfaces and/or bundles of wire.
- Near fluorescent lights, amateur radios, electrical equipment, or other devices that may transmit an RF signal, as electronic "noise" may cause nuisance alarms.
- Do not install in garages, kitchens, furnace rooms, or bathrooms. Do not install within 5 ft (1.5 m) of cooking appliances.
- Do not install within 3 ft (0.9 m) of the following: The door to a kitchen, or a bathroom that contains a tub or shower, forced air supply ducts used for heating or cooling, ceiling or whole house ventilating fans, or other high air flow areas.
- Avoid excessively dusty, dirty, or greasy areas. Dust, grease, or household chemicals can contaminate the alarm sensors, causing the alarm to not operate properly.
- Place the alarm where drapes or other objects will not block the sensors. Smoke and CO must be able to reach the sensors to accurately detect these conditions.
- Do not install in peaks of vaulted ceilings, 'A' frame ceilings, or gabled roofs.
- Keep out of damp and humid areas.
- Do not place in direct sunlight and keep out of insect-infested areas. Extreme temperatures will affect the sensitivity of the smoke/CO alarm.
- Do not install in areas where the temperature is colder than 40°F (4.4°C) or hotter than 100°F (37.8°C), such as garages and unfinished attics.
- Do not install in areas where the relative humidity (RH) is above or lower than 10%. Place away from doors and windows that open to the outside.
- Smoke alarms are not to be used with detector guards unless the combination (alarm and guard) has been evaluated and found suitable for that purpose.
4. Installation
The AEGISLINK SC200 detector is designed for easy installation on ceilings or walls. Follow these steps for proper mounting:
- Use the mounting bracket to mark the screw holes on the ceiling or wall.
- Drill holes at the marked points using an appropriately sized drill bit.
- Insert the anchor plugs and screw the mounting bracket using the provided screws.
- Attach the alarm to the mounting bracket and turn it clockwise to lock the alarm securely.
- After installation, test the alarm as described in the 'Operating Instructions' section.
Installation Positioning Guidelines:
- Prioritize installing smoke alarms in bedrooms and walkways to ensure alarms are audible in all sleeping areas. In homes with multiple bedrooms, install an alarm in every bedroom.
- If installing only one smoke alarm, place it near all bedrooms where possible, avoiding basements or furnace rooms.
- Install an alarm above the stairway and on every floor of the house.
- For optimal smoke detection, install the alarm in the middle of the ceiling where possible, as smoke and heat spread horizontally after rising. Ensure it's at a minimum distance from corners.
- If ceiling installation is not possible, install the alarm on a wall at a distance of 20 inches (50 cm) from the corners of the room.

5. Setup and Interconnection (for Multi-Packs)
The wireless interlinked alarms in a multi-pack are pre-interconnected. If you purchase more than one multi-pack, you will need to connect them to form a single interlinked network. A maximum of 24 wireless alarms can be interconnected on the same network. This model can only be interconnected with other AEGISLINK wireless interlinked alarms.
Interconnection Steps:
- To ensure all alarms enter the same interlinked network, work with only 2 units at a time: one unit in pairing mode and the other in searching mode.
- Press the pinhole pairing button on the unit you want to set to pairing mode.
- Hold down the pinhole pairing button on the unit you want to set to searching mode.
- The alarm will enter searching mode or pairing mode for 60 seconds with the LED flashing red.
- After 60 seconds, repeat steps 2 and 3 to connect the alarms.
- If needed, press the pinhole pairing button once while the alarm is in searching or pairing mode, and the LED will stop flashing red, exiting pairing mode to normal status.
- Test all wireless alarms to ensure they are interconnected before final installation.
