Introduction

The Blink Sync Module XR serves as a central hub for your Blink wireless security camera system, specifically designed to extend the operational range of Blink Outdoor 4 cameras. This module facilitates communication between your cameras and the Blink cloud, enabling features such as live view, motion detection alerts, and video recording. It also supports local video storage via a MicroSD card (sold separately).

Setup Instructions

1. Download the Blink App: Install the Blink Home Monitor app on your smartphone or tablet. It is available for iOS (version 15.0 or higher), Android (version 9.0 or higher), and Fire OS (version 9.0 or higher).
2. Create an Account: If you are a new user, create a Blink account and log in.
3. Add Sync Module XR: In the Blink app, tap the '+' icon to add a new device. Select "Blink Sync Module" and follow the on-screen prompts to scan the QR code on the back of your Sync Module XR.
4. Connect to Power: Plug the USB-C cable into the Sync Module XR and connect the power adapter to an electrical outlet. The module's blue light will blink, then turn solid blue, and finally a solid green light will indicate it's ready for setup.
5. Connect to Wi-Fi: The app will guide you through connecting the Sync Module XR to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network (802.11b/g/n). Ensure the module is placed within range of your Wi-Fi router.
6. Add Cameras: Once the Sync Module XR is online, you can add Blink Outdoor 4 cameras to your system. In the app, select the Sync Module XR and then choose to add a camera. Follow the instructions to pair your cameras.
7. Placement for Extended Range: For optimal extended range performance, position your Sync Module XR strategically. It supports up to two Outdoor 4 cameras at an extended range of up to 250 feet in XR mode, and up to 400 feet in XR+ mode (video resolution may vary).

Operating Your System

• Live View: Access 1080p HD live video streams from your cameras through the Blink app.
• Two-Way Audio: Utilize the two-way audio feature to speak and listen through your Blink Outdoor 4 cameras.
• Motion Detection: Receive alerts on your smartphone when motion is detected by your cameras. The Outdoor 4 features enhanced dual-zone motion detection.
• Arm/Disarm System: Control the arming and disarming of your entire Blink system or individual cameras directly from the app.
• System Scaling: A single Sync Module XR can manage up to 10 Blink devices, allowing for comprehensive coverage of your property.
• Local Storage: Insert a MicroSD card (up to 256 GB, sold separately) into the Sync Module XR for local backup of video clips.
• Cloud Storage: For cloud storage and additional features, a Blink Subscription Plan (sold separately) is required. This plan allows you to save and share clips.
• Alexa Integration: Connect your Blink system with Alexa-enabled devices to use voice commands for live view, arming/disarming, and other functions.

Maintenance

• Power Connection: Ensure the Sync Module XR remains continuously powered for uninterrupted operation.
• MicroSD Card Management: If using local storage, periodically check the MicroSD card for available space and manage stored clips as needed.
• Firmware Updates: The Sync Module XR receives automatic software security updates. Ensure your device is connected to the internet to receive these updates.
• Camera Battery Life: Blink Outdoor 4 cameras connected to the Sync Module XR can achieve up to two years of battery life with regular use (using AA lithium batteries). Monitor battery levels in the Blink app and replace batteries when indicated.
• Cleaning: Keep the Sync Module XR clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.

Troubleshooting

• Module Not Connecting to Wi-Fi:
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz.
  • Verify the Wi-Fi password entered in the app is correct.
  • Move the Sync Module XR closer to your Wi-Fi router.
  • Restart your Wi-Fi router and the Sync Module XR by unplugging and replugging it.
• Cameras Not Connecting to Sync Module XR:
  • Ensure the Sync Module XR is online and has a solid green light.
  • Check camera battery levels.
  • Move the camera closer to the Sync Module XR during the pairing process.
  • Reset the camera if necessary (refer to camera-specific instructions).
• Poor Video Quality/Range Issues:
  • Ensure the Sync Module XR is centrally located relative to your cameras and Wi-Fi router.
  • Minimize physical obstructions (thick walls, metal objects) between the Sync Module XR and cameras.
  • In XR+ mode, video resolution may vary. Adjust camera settings in the app if needed.
• No Motion Detection Alerts:
  • Verify motion detection is enabled for the camera in the Blink app.
  • Check the camera's activity zones and sensitivity settings.
  • Ensure your smartphone has notifications enabled for the Blink app.
