4. Setup and Assembly

The following steps detail the assembly of your Lily Awning. It is recommended to assemble the awning on a flat, clean surface.

4.1 Prepare Tools and Materials

Gather the following tools before starting assembly:

  • Drill with appropriate drill bits (e.g., 10mm for anchors)
  • Screwdriver (Phillips head recommended)
  • Measuring tape
  • Level
  • Pencil
  • Hammer (if using wall anchors)
  • Wrench
  • Neutral waterproof glue (for sealing)

4.2 Awning Assembly Steps

  1. Insert Aluminum Strips: Carefully slide the front and rear aluminum strips into the long sides of the polycarbonate panels. Ensure they are fully seated.

  2. Attach Drainage Grooves: Secure the drainage grooves to the short sides of the polycarbonate panels. Align the pre-drilled holes and use the provided thin silver screws.
  3. Connect Arc Brackets: Align the arc brackets with the drainage groove holes. Secure them using the thin silver screws and a drill.
  4. Attach L-shaped Brackets: Connect the L-shaped brackets to the arc bracket holes. Use the thick silver screws for this step.
  5. Install Protective Covers: Place the protective covers on the ends of the drainage grooves that will be nearest to the wall. This helps seal the unit.
  6. Apply Sealant: Apply neutral waterproof glue to the recessed areas on the back of the central roof support and along the edges where panels meet the frame. This is crucial for reducing noise during rain or wind and ensuring a watertight seal. Allow adequate drying time as per glue instructions (typically 1-1.5 hours) before proceeding.

4.3 Assembly Video Reference

For a visual guide on the assembly process, please refer to the following video. While the video may feature a slightly different model (Palram Herald Awning), the general assembly principles are applicable to your Lily Awning.

Video 4.1: Palram Herald Awning Assembly Guide. This video demonstrates the general steps for assembling a Palram awning, which are similar to the Lily Awning.

5. Installation

Once assembled, the awning is ready for wall installation. Ensure you have selected a suitable, structurally sound location.

  1. Mark Drilling Spots: Hold the assembled awning against the desired installation location on the wall. Use a level to ensure it is straight. Mark the positions for the mounting brackets' holes with a pencil.
  2. Drill Pilot Holes: Using an appropriate drill bit (e.g., 10mm for masonry), drill pilot holes at the marked spots. The depth should match the length of your wall anchors.
  3. Insert Wall Anchors: Insert the wall anchors into the drilled holes. Tap gently with a hammer if necessary until they are flush with the wall surface.
  4. Mount the Awning: Carefully lift the awning and align the mounting brackets with the installed wall anchors. Insert the screws through the brackets and into the anchors. Tighten securely with a drill or screwdriver, but do not overtighten.
  5. Final Check: Verify that the awning is securely attached to the wall and is level. Check all connections for tightness.

6. Operating Instructions

The Palram - Canopia Lily Awning is a fixed, non-retractable outdoor structure designed to provide permanent shelter and shade. No operational adjustments are required after installation.

  • It offers protection from rain, snow, and harmful UV rays for your entryway, windows, or patio.
  • The clear polycarbonate panels allow light transmission while blocking UV radiation.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will help prolong the life and appearance of your awning.

  • Cleaning: Clean the polycarbonate panels and aluminum frame periodically with mild soap and water. Use a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or brushes that could scratch the surface. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
  • Inspection: Annually inspect all screws and connections to ensure they remain tight. Re-tighten any loose fasteners. Check for any signs of wear or damage to the panels or frame.
  • Drainage: Ensure the drainage grooves are clear of debris (leaves, dirt) to allow proper water runoff.
  • Snow Removal: While designed for snow load, heavy accumulation should be gently removed to prevent excessive stress on the structure. Use a soft broom or brush.
