Operating Instructions
Making Espresso
The Bambino uses a 54mm portafilter and is designed for 19 grams of coffee for optimal flavor. Ensure your coffee beans are freshly roasted and ground for the best results.
- Select Filter Basket: Choose the appropriate single or dual wall filter basket for your coffee type and desired shot size (1-cup or 2-cup). Place it into the portafilter.
- Dose and Tamp: Grind fresh coffee beans directly into the filter basket. For best results, use approximately 19 grams of finely ground coffee for a double shot. Distribute the grounds evenly, then tamp firmly and level with the provided tamper.
- Insert Portafilter: Wipe any excess coffee from the rim of the portafilter. Insert the portafilter into the group head and twist firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
- Place Cup(s): Position your espresso cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
- Extract Espresso: Press the 1-cup or 2-cup button. The machine will pre-infuse the coffee at low pressure before increasing to full pressure for extraction. The extraction will stop automatically.

Precise 9 bar extraction delivered via the 15 bar Italian pump, producing rich espresso.
Automatic Microfoam Milk Texturing
The automatic steam wand allows for hands-free milk frothing, creating silky smooth microfoam perfect for latte art.
- Fill Milk Jug: Fill the stainless steel milk jug with cold milk to just below the spout.
- Position Steam Wand: Swing the steam wand over the drip tray and press the steam button to purge any condensed water. Then, swing the steam wand into the milk jug, ensuring the tip is submerged just below the surface.
- Start Frothing: Press the steam button again. The machine will automatically texture the milk to your desired temperature and texture level (adjustable via the control panel).
- Clean Steam Wand: Once frothing is complete, remove the milk jug. Wipe the steam wand immediately with a damp cloth. Swing the wand back over the drip tray and press the steam button to purge any milk residue from the tip.

The powerful steam wand quickly transforms milk into silky smooth microfoam for lattes and cappuccinos.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Sage Bambino.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Empty and clean the drip tray after each use.
- Rinse the portafilter and filter basket under hot water immediately after use.
- Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth.
- Steam Wand Cleaning:
- Always purge the steam wand after each use.
- If the steam wand becomes blocked, use the provided steam wand tip cleaning tool to clear the holes.
- Descaling:
Over time, mineral deposits can build up inside the machine, affecting performance. The machine will indicate when descaling is required. Use the provided descaler sachet or a suitable descaling solution following the instructions in the full product manual.
- Water Filter Replacement:
Replace the water filter approximately every 3 months or as indicated by the machine to maintain water quality and reduce scale buildup.
